Hi there first time germinating with seeds. The seeds were soaked in water for 72 hours most of which showed a taproot or signs of the Shell popping some even came completely out of the shell floating in the water with a quarter to half inch taproot and the cotyledons exposed. I placed very carefully into my root riot cubes in the propagation dome and generously watered. I’m using a heat mat keeping the temp above 75 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity slightly above 55%. Should these exposed embryos be covered with damp soil to allow more time for maturity before exposing to my 35w lights? Any and all input will be greatly appreciated. Trying to stick with the cubes if possible.
Let the light shine! There is no benefit to “protecting” the sprouts. They need to toughen up. Be very careful as overwatering is common at this stage.
You want at least 70% RH for seedlings. They get their water through the leaves till the roots take over. I prefer at least 85% but shoot for 90%. You can spray the inside domes a couple times a day. Its not much as the dome with help boost the RH% up.
And welcome to the community.
Welcome to the neighborhood I hope you didn’t really soak the seeds…
Welcome dood !
@beachglass if the ilgm recommends soaking seeds for germinate then what is your method if you don’t mind sharing
Hi there @danniep40 . I always pop the seeds directly into forever 5 gal fav pots. When I plants veg too. I have been lucky so far
Oh my goodness, I didn’t mean that soak. I was talking about the generous watering.
