From a customer: Plants are growing tall and thin, but have over 30 bud sites per plant, using Good Earth 85 watt lighting x 2, on 12/12 lighting for autoflowers. Planted in Happy Frog soil
The plants are stretching for more light.
Cannabis is an extremely light hungry plant. The only plants that require as much light are palm and olive trees, and some varieties of cacti.
A good rule of thumb for multiple plants is 40 - 50 watts of high efficiency lighting per square foot of growth space. Lights built with Samsung LM301 diodes are the standard for high efficiency.
AC Infinity, Mars Hydro, and HLG all make good lights, but whatever you get insist on LM301 diodes.
The lamny plants are due to insufficient lighting. You’ll want around 40-50 watts per square foot of quality lighting. With autos you can make up for a little bit of it by rubbing your lights longer. I would suggest 20 on 4 off or so
Why the 12/12 cycle? Thats only for photos during flower. For autos try 18 on 6 off. 700-800 par, 45+ DLI. They are stretching because its not getting enough light.
Autos can be run with 24/0. I would definitely go beyond 18 with lower power lights to increase DLI.
No harm in running 12/12 on autos Growmie, I do it all the time
@OGIncognito not saying you can’t… just that if your lights are under powered you will benefit from increased light hours
Agree 100%. I run HLG and Kind lights in those tents. I’ve even ran a 6/2 once on an auto with decent results
I do that when heat is hard to control myself. Auto dont care and vegging photo love it. Even 5/3 rocks for that.
Interesting. I stand corrected. My apologies.
No need to apologize Growmie your statement wasn’t incorrect just different strokes for for different folks. Great thing about autos is a few light schedules you can run that’ll help with electricity or heat
