Out of 20 WW seeds, 4 germinated, the rest were duds. So, potted in good soil may 1st, outdoor growth was slow or not much at all, plants got to less than 12 inches tall and all decided to flower mid July and did not grow any taller or spread out. My first and LAST autoflower try.
Sorry to hear that. Were they ilgm genetics? If so they have a guarantee. How many grows under your belt? A lot of factors could be in play as well. Did you germinate all 20 at once?
@BriscoDarlin
Love the screen name! I’m a major fan as well
I’ve had fair luck with autos, but agree, I won’t grow them anymore. I just prefer the photoperiod ones.
I just started some autos a few grows ago and swore by photos before. I approached germination the same way as photos. I start in moistened papertowels, I clam shell them between two small plate (one normal side up and the top in upside down). I put sticky note on the top plate with strain and date. I use a spray bottle on mist and spary them slightly everyday or so as needed.
Once they sprout, I put them in a solo cup with drainage holes in the bottom. I add mykos in the seed hole to promote root growth. I add a clear, smaller cup on top of the solo cup, turned upside down. I poke a hole in the clear dome. Once they break ground, mist the dome only, as they plant takes in water through the air at this stage. I do put a small amount of water to keep the soil damp at the seed site until they break ground, but none once I see them above ground until leaves develop. Once leaves are present, remove dome and adjust lights to proper height and intensity, depends on your light. I have HLG’s and they’re dimmable, so I start low and about 18" from the plants. Sorry long post, but hope it helped. Don’t give up on autos yet. They are a quick way to grow some good bud, they just have a mind of their own lol.
I totally agree… this is the first and last auto i do well untill i use the last 10 seed i still have . I was lucky all 10 i sprouted came out but lost 4 to back yard animals. They still about 18in tall started to flower about at 6in tall and thinner then a crackhead in skinny jeans
Ill only grow an auto again because i was gifted a few… i quit a few grows ago… photos only for me for now on…
germinating auto seeds vs photos. There is zero difference. It sounds like you got some bad seeds. It happens more than you think. I had an order with 6 or 7 strains. Where not one seed would germinate. Autos and photos. I figured for my deal that some thing may have happened during shipping. if you said you had issues once they sprouted. That would be different Staring an auto is the same as a photo though. Over watering seems to be the biggest issue I have seen here. I would contact the seller you got these from. Most will make things right with you
autoflower has nothing to do with that… did you buy the seeds and put tut them in work after you bought them or you did hold them somewhere in a place for a long time?
Autos are tough in soil as a medium for me but hydroponic was a different story. I’ve had problems with photos and autos germination. I believe autos more but we will see if it’s the supplier next grow. I have had some massive colas and harvested 4+lbs last auto grow from 8 plants. That is a good yield for my skill level
My 4th year growing, but first time autoflowers. Not sure why, but bought seeds from you online, germinated 6 and all popped. Started them indoors under lights until it warmed up outside. They have been outside about a month, still small, but pinched tops a week ago. White pistils have appeared on all plants but only 6-8" tall. Is this common? Photos attached.
@John7 I would say 4 from 8 is good on any level @joeyboy7 I see this alot when these are done in soil. But no. It shouldn’t be. And I wouldn’t be topping any plant my self unless it had 5 nodes showing. Especially autos. I just started a few autos. I will tag you in of you want to fallow along. I am in coco. I have never tried soil my self.
Yes please tag me I would enjoy learning from your grow
Thanks
After growing photos for years I tried autos for the first time. I loved em. Things happen fast with autos, do you have to be on your toes.
Beautiful quality buds, so fragrant.
We are now 6 weeks old and have been flowering for a good week. They (5 plants) are only about 8" tall, they seem very dense (tight between nodes) starting to smell and are sticky. Is this common for auto flowers? Grand Daddy Purple, outdoor grow, Central Florida. I started fertilizing with Bergmans from day 1 and just started the flowering stage stuff. Is once a week enough ? They need water almost daily.
That’s not common for autos. Could be many things, but given the fact that they came into flower do soon, I’ll bet it was something you did.
One question, what kind of soil is that? Looks really woody.
FWIW; 23d auto just topped…it’ll produce over a 1/4lb if it produces a gram. Will likely schwazz it a couple times too.
I’ve never grown a photo…and don’t own anything to measure PPM/EC. I’m a simplist and have only ever grown seed-to-harvest autos in final pots of organic soil; but most folks learned to grow harder, ymmv.
