Is it ok to start auto seeding in a 12 ounce cup then transplant to good outside grow area ? Works on feminized . But worried about stress on autos … first time . Thanks
welcome to the community. i started my autos in a solo cup and when they were big enough to transfer i put them in bigger pots and had no issues.
I start my Autos straight into their forever home once the seed has a tap root. Many growers have also used a Solo Cup for the entire grow. There is a Topic on it.
It’ll be fine. My first auto grow, I started it in the solo cup and after only three days I transplanted her to the five gallon fabric pot I finished her in. I honestly thought after only three days I would wake up to a wilted dead plant but she was standing tall. Ended up pulling three ounces out of her too. This time around, I put my GG4 seed directly into the soil, no germinating or transplanting. All in all, if u have to transplant an auto, it should be fine but it’s best to just start them in their forever home
Thanks for the info . Glad to be a part of RB’s seeds and site . Glad to get responses . First time with autos . For me and my outside growing area it always worked better to start in a cup them directly into ground . Fantastic rich soil with ph of 6.5 . Thanks again
Not only is it ok to transplant autos, but in my opinion it’s the preferred method. When I first switched to autos a couple of years ago I listened to all the hype about not transplanting them. The first few runs I started them in their final pots. I had some decent plants, but there was no question that they didn’t get off to the best start possible.
Once I started transplanting them, I realized how awesome an auto can do. I average over 5oz per auto now, sometimes well more. You just have to be extremely gentle with them and time it properly. Don’t disturb the rootball in the cup, and use a good quality Microbe and Fungi product. Here’s a pic of how I peel the solo cups. It’s much better than squeezing the cup or turning it upside down to get them out. One more thing, my autos are usually ready to transplant between 14 and 16 days above ground.
Exactly how I’ve always done my feminized . With your input I’m ready ! Thanks a bunch ! What a great group !
What type of microbe-fungi product do you use Cap ?
I’ve tried many over the years, but I settled on 2 products from a company called Microbe Life Hydroponics. The first one is Photosynthesis Plus and the other is Vegetable and Fruit Yeild Enhancer. In my opinion they work as well as some far more expensive products out there. I also like it that they’re in liquid form. When I tried Mykos and a few other powder styles, I always felt like no matter how often I would shake the jug of solution, there would always be sludge at the bottom. Like it wasn’t fully soluble or something.
Like the others have said. When I germinate my autos I start them in solo cups and never had a problem.
Same to all above, start in these small plastic container then move to forever home.
Normally wait about 2 weeks then
Lights were out earlier when I posted so I couldn’t get a pic then, but these are the 2 products I use for Microbes and Fungi. The Photosynthesis Plus is without a doubt the absolute worst smelling product I’ve ever used, but my plants really love it. No question my seedlings do much better and grow much faster since I started using it.
Hey i leave my autos in cups until there leaves and branches are about two to three inches over the rim of the cup then i will transplant i normally transplant my seedlings in the coolest part of the day either early morning or night thats just what i do and ive never had a problem
Thank you for your reply tezza !
