Aren't seeing amber trichomes

A customer has a question and I hope we can get some opinions on it, thanks

“I am a first time grower. I bought the fruity mix pack from you back in December. So far I’d consider the grow a great success. I planted 3 of each kind. All germinated. Veg state went as expected. I shifted to 12/12 on Feb 9. All have buds. Some look fantastic. Big buds with very sugary looking trichomes. My problem is that I don’t see any amber trichomes. I look every day with a jewellers loop magnifier. I see Brown hairs and some cloudy trichomes but I’m so new to this that I wanted to see an amber trichomes before harvesting to be sure. My big concern is that I might be waiting too long because the web site says that strawberry matures in 55 days, blueberry in 63 and pineapple in 85. With a Feb 9th switch to 12/12, I’m at day 78 now. Way past the 55 and 63 for strawberry and blueberry respectively. Why aren’t I seeing amber trichomes? Should I harvest anyway? Is waiting till day 78 too long for strawberry.
Thanks, rich”

Rich first off welcome to the forum if you could fill out a support ticket that would help tremendously and if you could snap a few photos to throw on we always like those two but I would say you were getting very close it sounds like. 78 days is not too long sometimes it takes shorter sometimes it’s a little longer let’s see if I can get a few more people in here to get you rolling my friend @Matthew420 @bob31 ( can you throw up a support ticket Bob ) @latewood @Hawkeye_diesel @Majiktoker @Aquaponic_Dumme

@Hogmaster Becky from ilgm sales support posted that question on Rich’s behalf.

The flowering days are estimated times and some go less and some more. Get a strong magnifier and watch those trichomes!

Most likely they will a be ready at different times.

If Rich decides to join the forum we can do a support ticket and work with him to help him out if he’s interested.

As mentioned. Listed finish times are approximate, and cvan be sqewed by gorw methods and veg times.

Did you veg for 2 months or longer? Or, did you do a short month long veg.

I always find that it takes 2-4 weeks longer than posted finish times. In my experience; Nothing is done on the shorter side of time. Of course you can harvest without amber trichomes, and there will slightly less of a medicinal affect.

Blueberry is an Indica and thus it is supposed to be finished in a couple months. The Kush is more of an Indica Sativa hybrid, but Kush itself is Indica and finishes faster. The Pineapple Haze is Sativa and can take 12-13 weeks.

Also; Sativa sometimes will not show the golf ball on a tee type trichomes; It will just look like sugar poured on the plant, similar to what “frosted flakes” look like right out of the box.

Hope to see you around; Be patient and wait. Happy growing  lw

I mentioned this before: don’t hesitate to take a sample that you can examine in a better location than on the plant. I couldn’t see the progression of the trichomes until I snipped a sample leaf from a bud site.

I think you should harvest and cure it then send it to me!I’ll let you know what I think. LOL! Patience my son. Watched kettle never boils.

Trichomes that represent that shape are glandular trichomes, trichomes that dont resemble that and are strait with no bulbs are non-glandular trichomes  to put a name there

Duh. I have to look at the trichomes in regular light. There look darker under the LED’s. Just realized this.
