I have 4 strawberry kush in flower. They’ve been on 12/12 light period for 60 days, and have magnificent clear trichromes. I’ve read that I should wait until the trichromes are 50%/50% cloudy/amber before harvesting. I’ve read elsewhere that I should wait until the pistils have turned 50% amber before harvesting. Right now, the trichromes are clear, yet the pistols are about 50% amber. Does anyone have any suggestions? First grow, and although I’m a very patient man, these smell SO GOOD! I’m just wondering how much longer I might have to wait. Thanks!
Trichomes re what you need to watch the more amber the more of a relaxing effect clear are where some buds get that nervous paranoid buzz. The more amber the more couch lock
Thanks! I have another question, if you don’t mind. How quickly will the trichromes change color? For instance, if they began changing tomorrow, does it happen rapidly, like a couple days, or somewhat slower, like a week or two? I haven’t found any info about what to expect, so I figured I’d better ask.
That will change from strain to strain but i do think you can hurry the process by going to a longer dark period gradually . Like a half hour every other day till you hit 10 14 light schedule. It helps push the resin to the surface to protect the plant as long as possible. This is one of the hardest parts to wait thru well this and the 6 weeks curing time but it is how you get the most from a grow after all the hard work you put into it .
I have mine on 10 14 schedule nowThat seems to depend on some intangibles I’ve seen them turn almost overnight and right now I’m waiting for the second week for something to turn amber, it doesn’t seem to have a rhyme or reason, best advice would be watch them closely
Many people like 20% Amber as a general rule but others say 50% which personally is a little much for me
Hey @Oldstoner those sure seem like they still have a Way’s to go , maybe 4 to 6 weeks … Why the rush…good thing’s come to those who wait… They are very pretty thoe…
As for @Thefourthwiseman I only see clear and milky so far , got to keep watching them , some times they change from milky to amber in a couple days like @Paranorman said you never really know till it happens😊
On a side note , looks really good…
I understand increasing dark period is a thing. I don’t agree with it. I believe you’ll significantly decrease your yield, and I don’t believe it adds any significant resin at all
I suggest you try both ways, compare and then make a decision
