My plant started throwing 3 fingered leaves
Cannabis always has odd numbered leaves. Those that don’t are the genetic anomalies. The next sets of leaves the plant puts up will be 5 fingered leaves, then 7, then 9, and so on.
I wouldn’t cut leaves off. The plant needs them. It is always best to post pics of the full plant when asking for help.
Noted for future reference, sorry newbie on here, so you dont ever trim any of your leaves? I try to just keep good airflow
I do, but not when the plant is only putting up 3-fingered leaves. It is too young at that point.
Hold up ill run down and take a pic, its a week into flower, its an auto and out of 3 it has always been funny. Its a runt and didnt start flowering until like a week after her sister
started all 3 from seed the same day, the one on the left is a different strain but the 2 on the right are supposed to be the same, out of a 5 pack, always had the same water, light, nute schedule as the others, i even put a second light lower right over her to see if that would help but i think its just a wonky seed
Okay, the full plant pic is helpful and changes things slightly. This is why it is best to always put up full plant pics.
Newer growth is going to throw up 3 fingered leaves, then 5, then 7, and so on.
Your plant does indeed need every leaf it has. There is a lot of space in there. The plant would benefit greatly from more light. A lot more.
Plants aren’t worth trimming unless they look like this. Trimming is otherwise counterproductive. Strongly suggest not taking any more off.
Thats what im here for, first grow indoors, a lot more light? I mean im not running co2 and im at like 40 something dli at the darkest point
Appreciate the help, being from Illinois, i too am a midwest guy

Okay. 1,200 PPFD is plenty. You’ve taken off so much foliage that they look light deprived. I strongly suggest not taking any more foliage off until it is absolutely necessary. The plants need those leaves to manufacture the sugars the plants need to be healthy.
I’ll add: your plant is still stretching (a good thing,) so it should fill in foliage and look healthy again in a couple of weeks.
Yeah no, i only did because i read somewhere with autos to trim when they switch so you dont shock them too much later
This was right before she started flowering, the other two started and pedal to the metal, i feel like she is stuck in granny low and the tranny is slipping.
I was surprised she started flowering, she has always been half the size of the other one, i even put those reflectors under it to see if that would help. It just didmt want to grow like the others so i figure genetics

Based on this most recent pic I would have only taken only a half-dozen or so leaves off to improve airflow. The plant should not be completely airy. There should only be slight gaps between foliage.
The plant needs its leaves to manufacture the sugars the plant needs to be healthy. It’s still early enough recover and be highly productive.
Also: be wary of advice to trim to expose bud sites to light. We see this advice quite a bit. This is also counterproductive. Buds don’t need or use light, as flower calyxes are only 5% as effective at photosynthesis as leaves are.
I suggest starting a thread to serve as a grow journal. Post pics, regular updates, and questions in your journal and the growers here will help you along the way. The growers here have decades of collective grow experience and they provide solid advice.
Here is one of my past grow journals as an example:
