I planted 1 seed, kept it climate controlled and watered for 8 days and say no activity. Not wanting to waste the soil, I planted another, and it sprouted just fine. I come home yesterday and find the first (second maybe?) seed sprouted as well. Now I have 2 plants in 1 container. Here’s the question: should I even try to save that small girl, or just gently remover her and focus on the tall one?
If I can save the small one, I’d like to, but not sure how without harming the tall one. Open to suggestions.
Try to move the smaller one to another pot. As kindly as possible, I’d use a butter knife, cut the soil about halfway between them in a circle around the small one. Id then try to use a spoon and lift it and the plug you cut around it. People transplant all the time. You just have the added element of some existing roots by yours. I think you can do it. They’re pretty tough plants.
from my experience general growing that new sprout has almost no roots and can be dug out without touching the other roots. Dry out the pot and pick the dirt out or spoon it out from the opposite side fron the other plant with a tablespoon.
Have the home ready and get it back under dirt quick.
Fair enough. But each stage has its own set of challenges to be met and overcome and you’ve done an excellent job with this transplant. Healthy with no sign of wilt or other shock. You’ll tackle the next stages with equal success I bet.
In my grow journal on another site I had an entry on severe over water of a seedling. The cap fell off of the 1/2 gallon watering device and threw the solo cup water guard out of the pot and glugged 3 times knocking the seeding over flat.
I bucked the little thing up with dirt and she pulled through. It is now the bigger of the 2 plants 1/2 way through flower
