A customer has a question and I hope we can get some opinions on it, thanks.
I bought rockwool starter cubes and the plants popped up in like 4 days. Since then they grew out 1 1/2 inches and I then moved them into a 4x4 rockwool block using the starter cube and for the last 7 days nothing has happened except the original 2 leaves looks sort of yellowish but not like an overwatered yellow. I planted two of the white widow seeds and have had them under a T5 lamp until moving them over to my tent once the current plant is finished within the next 14 days.
Any insight as to what you think I might be doing wrong ? I just wanted to correct it so I don’t loose the seeds or the time spent trying to grow them. When moving the cubes the roots were out of the bottom of the cube by 1/2 - 3/4".
I’ve never used the rockwool cubes but have read you need to soak them in water that is PH’d down to 6.2 or so (not positive on the actual PH reading you want to balance to) just a suggestion.
When using rockwool, I believe the pH you want to be around is 5.8. I have 6 ILGM white widow autos going right now in rockwool cubes and this exact thing happened to one of mine. It may have experienced some shock during the transplant and is still growing, but not where you can see it. When this happened to mine she stalled to reestablish her roots but after about a week or so she started growing again. She’s a bit behind her sisters but she is still going! Also, make sure the rockwool is not too wet. If it is, you can just set the cube on top of another dry cube.
Actually according to growdan I had the ph at 5.5. Thanks for the help and I meant to say I can see the roots stretching across so maybe it is growing “underground” right now and will grow upwards soon.
I clone in rockwool with Coco - Soak them in 5.0-5.5 Ph water for at least a hour - then do you seed or clone and bury them in your soil - be careful only run 6.0 or less for the first soak or week . then slowly bring it up .1 per week
rock wool is rough on PH but dont panic seeds and clones are durable - If you use the coco use the coco line of nutrients and you will stay around 6.0 or so
this is a batch i cloned today - 5.0 Ph on the rockwool cubes and the coco - watered in 5.8 PH -
Overall the ph will jump to 6.5 by tommorrow
