Aerogarden Veg transport for flower?

I was wondering if anyone uses an Aerogarden to germinate and Veg then transport to a bigger system. Or just germinate and transport on you get roots. This was kinda my plan but the shape of the grow pod for the Aerogarden is a cone. Will it hold up right surrounded by the clay pellets?

It’s been tried and was found not to be the best way

Plant over grew system very quickly
If your going to do hydro it would be best to start in a bigger set up

I personally tryed it once and transplanted to soil once it was germinated but the starter plug actully restricted the stem growth I finished the plant with less then good results

Imho don’t waste your time
They work well as a herb garden like they are designed

@Countryboyjvd1971 what about in rock wool in the grow basket with a dome over it?

You can give it a try @DrNoobThumb

Nothing wrong with experimenting

If you do try will you post a topic about it? I’ve always wanted to try using an aerogarden to grow weed. I tried once with bag seed and didnt get to flower, my fault

@basementstealth kinda curious myself. If I do try it would just be to get it started. Because of the cone shape of the Aerogarden pod I was thinking once I started to see the roots I would drill a hole in a piece of rock wool big enough to slip the pod into and put it into a bigger system.

If u do it, pls post step by step photos. That’s good stuff for reference. I’m sure everyone has considered doing and aerogarden grow even if they havent actually done it

@basementstealth ok. So I’m actually going back to thinking about going to my first plan and using an Aerogarden for a whole grow. Since the seeds I currently have are auto flower. I built myself an RDWC system but most support is for regular seeds not auto flower. So last night was thinking about buying regular seeds for the system I built and saw that the yeild of the same strain was almost 3 times as much. Which had me thinking that the auto is a much smaller plant so the root growth would be a lot less and the 1 gallon reservoir the aerogarden has may be sufficient. I may drop the seed on Sunday. My only deviation would be once the auto transfers to flower would be to remove the Aerogarden light and use the 135 watt QB I bought. If I proceed I will tag you.

if you use nutrients suited for cannabis (meaning, skip the aerogarden nutes) the one gallon container may not permit a fully sized plant, auto or otherwise. There was discussion about doing a one gallon grow competition and ultimately we decided against it. It seems 5 gallons is smallest anyone generally recommends (some say autos in 3 gallon is ok).

I would love to try a sog grow. I think that is done in one gallon containers.

Ultimately I wanna see your grow start to finish!

Also. I’ve seen whole grows in solo cups. So I’m sure it can be done. When I’ve heard of aerogarden grows in the past theyve added an additional aquarium pump

@basementstealth I will be using General Hydro nutes. Grow, Micro, Bloom and CalMag. Also Botanicare Hydroguard. In a 36x20x62 tent. Using Aerogarden lighting till it flowers unless advised otherwise. Once it flowers I will switch to a 135 Watt QB. I also have 2 x 50 Watt Full Spec lights on stands I may use. I will change out water once a week and clean tank.
Do you recommend the supplemental lighting? Also at what stage (should I wait till flower)? If I can get 3 oz’s dry I’ll be happier than $h!t

Idk if it’s possible to get 3 zips dry. That’s about 450 grams wet. So you need 10 colas 45grams each… seems like a lot of weed for only one gallon of roots

I would wait until she is out of seedling and well into veg. Then switch lighting to qb135

Well that kinda sucks if I can get at least 3. I have a pretty in depth instructions and the guy that wrote it said you could do 2 plants max in the Aerogarden. Seems like a waste of a seed to do two if the yeild is so small on one. I can link it if you want. Has a nute recipe also. @basementstealth

Here’s the link anyway. @basementstealth

@basementstealth got my water sitting out. CalMag and Hydroguard come tomorrow along with my outlet tower. Plan on dropping this seed tomorrow . The shell is cracked so hopefully it’s ok

Why so many seeds ?

@basementstealth those are ones I bought here. I was just taking a picture showing the one with a cracked shell in the bag

Lol I thought they were under water. Idk if a cracked seed is a problem. We will see,

@basementstealth setting my stuff up. Should I put the humidifier in the tent or leave where it is. Also do you think I should use supplemental lighting during the grow? Or just pop the light off and only use the 135 watt QB when ready?
