Adventures in RED

The northern lights is going great, at least you harvested something smokeable . thats a win in my eyes.

Yeah. I scored some so far, enough to try a few different stains, the auto versions of them. I’m kind of thinking a couple things at the moment. One of them is I don’t think I’ll do autos again. I don’t like thinking it’s a watered down version of the original…

It’s great you got some return, you’ll only get better. And your yeild will improve.

Found a scattering of seeds while trimming, mostly small and white in a couple lower branches of my amnesia Haze. They are small, would they grow anything? And it’s impossible to know if the seeds are self produced or if that errant male Candy jack is to blame right. Or maybe there’s some hermaphrodite action going on somewhere. I better check everybody’s genitals carefully.

First of all, I read your journal. Second, is this your first grow? Cause you’re doing a great job, those buds look awesome.

Thanks. This is my 2nd grow. Well now you have to listen to my story lol. (Or you can just pretend to. Same thing really)
So last year I was successful with some bag seed, the Candy Jack, and ILGM’s Amnesia Haze and Big Bud. I thought nothing of those two strains until I started smoking them. Amnesia Haze became my favorite, and big bud is better than I thought, really clear and fruity I like those two a lot. There was also Chocolope, which I still think sucks. And I had 4 huge plants of a strain called Y Griega. We’re talking 10 feet tall and budding all over the place and those plants plus some others were lost in a terrible fire that almost took our neighborhood. The plants were ruined by smoke and heat. With great luck I had harvested about half my crop before the fires hit. And I’m not complaining I still came out of it all with a couple pounds that tested 17, 19%

Wow, that’s quite a story. Sorry about the fire, that’s horrible!

Funny you don’t like the Chocoloupe, it happens to be my favorite. Lol. A couple of pounds is nothing to sneeze at too.

It might have just been that I grew it wrong. That’s happened a few times already lol

Or maybe it was the cure that went wrong, that can really change the smoke.

Right now I remember what happened. The plant was post-fire. I harvested right afterwards, but that was premature. And I was afraid the buds were smoke damaged so I cut really deep when I trimmed them, kind of like just cutting their core. So, yeah, not chocolopes fault.

Ah, smoke damage must’ve made it taste weird too.

Tasted like bacon.

I like to get the dreary information out of the way first. I had enthusiasm for “red” but now I’m over it. Either I’m too novice for these strains or something but they always end up like this little purple stick… not even really worth harvesting.

And there’s been at least a couple other small failures.

I believe that’s nutrient burn. Ive adjusted things. That seems to have affected a half dozen plants in my arsenal. And the thing is the plants that are doing well survive it but with autos the plant doesn’t really have time to recover from a trauma. This plant was kind of old and not producing anyway, it was easily affected.

So now I can move on to better things. These are the 3 Blueberry sisters. They were harvested today, and I think they did pretty well, in their tub together.

Up close…

And this plant! This auto has done the best out of all of them. It’s a Northern Lights. Does. Also harvested today.

Check it out, killer buds with orange hair.

And then, I can’t believe this web site lets me upload all these pictures. This plant, doing well, is a Purple Kush. It’s like a small bud tower with very few leaves.

You’ll notice there’s no purple.

There’s more to talk about right but life is short lol

Hey Joseph. Plants look awesome. I did notice some of them in rather small containers. The ones performing for u seem to b in larger pots. I run my autos in the smallest a 3 gallon but usually a 5. U might find the ones not doing well are the strains with large root systems and they just can’t expand to their full potential. Also being outside cloth pots may help u a lot. They drain and dry quicker.

Your doing awesome but figured u didn’t come here for pats on the back but suggestions to improve so just my two cents.
