Adventures in RED

This summer I’m doing the “red” cannabis strains. To try something different. I don’t know if the plants will actually produce the buds and leaves with the promised red and purple hues, but let’s find out. This is my 2nd grow. Last summer I did well with ILGM’s Big Bud, and some excellent Candy Jack.
So these red stains are from Sweet Seeds, from Spain. The three plants below are Red Poison, Dark Devil and Bloody Skunk. Six weeks old. Started indoors and then moved outside as the weather improved.

Those two seedlings at the bottom of the picture are another Red Poison and Dark Devil, 3 weeks old. Then next week I’ll plant the remaining 2 Red Poison, 2 Dark Devil and 1 Bloody Skunk for a total of 10 red plants. These are all autos and I’m planting in shifts in order to rotate plants on the limited amount of sunny space I have on my deck. Plants will hopefully be coming and going all summer and in addition to adventures in red I’m also doing several other auto strains as well, depicted in this here photo lol. These are all also six weeks old.

Besides the red I’m doing, or will be shortly, ILGM’s auto Blueberry, Amnesia Haze & Northern Lights. And Canuk Seeds auto Purple Kush. I also have a seed I found in a bag of Chiquita Banana! It’s small and doesn’t look promising but you never know. And a seed I found from Candy Jack. Finally, I’ll be doing regular photoperiod Gold Leaf… 4 of those because one of them didn’t come up. By the way ILGM lol.

Anyway, I noticed people listing their growing particulars so I’ll give that a whirl. I guess.
Soil is 420 brand formulated for growing cannabis in Northern California. Can you please get more specific? Lol. I mix with perlite.
They are in 3 gallon pots.
I use Fox Farms organic, sparingly and monitor water ph level to around 6.
Sunlight… Somewhat limited! but it’s all I have and it worked last year so stop complaining lol. They get 5 hours direct sunlight, the remaining day is indirect or diffused light.
What else?
Oh, this here plant has a problem. I think it’s a slight over watering or draining issue.

Thanks for following! Or if you aren’t going to follow I respect your complete and total indifference.

Anyway! Pray for me! Lol

It gets pretty lively between a few members (and mods!) and you KNOW they both had just medicated haha!

I’m interested to see if the colors come through without the cold temps…

Well the climate around here might actually qualify as having the cold temps, at night. I live in wine country cool nights are a qualification for growing grapes. The nights right now are around 50. The days are around 70 and will get warmer but the nights stay cool.

Well today I got the first small indication I might be growing something other than Green.
This Purple Kush is flowering, I see purple in there! It’s 6 weeks old.

This plant is like the epitome of good health right. It’s 7 weeks old and is producing these oddly enormous fan leaves. You can see my foot there on the bottom for scale.

Last year I found three seeds in some dispensary weed, the Candy Jack. They produced some really potent buds, like 17% And they seemed to grow kind of odd and short. I think they were autos. Anyway then from one of those plants I came across another random seed, a grandchild, so this one is what that is.

I have a total of like 36 plants. Mostly autos. The eldest ones being 7weeks old, and the youngest one in curls. Tis the story.
Anyway this plant here, Purple Kush is flowering and there’s some purple happening. What are those spots on the leaves?

This plant is doing well, it’s an auto Amnesia Haze from ILGM. And I have to say their genetics are out performing my other seed sources, not that I have a lot of comparison I’ve only used 3 or 4 sources. Except for that Candy Jack
.

The plant with the spots on it is being attacked by bugs of some sort… check under the leaves and start spraying before the infestation gets too hard to fight…

Thripes. Now I remember from last year they seem to be around here. I like to use water spray with cinnamon oil and/or clove oil. I like the smell it’s natural and works. Mist it around the bases of the pots and even gentle mist on the affected plants.

So this is the original group at 8 weeks, various strains. They range from doing well to doing mediocre and a couple are sicky. Some of these strains claimed they’d be ready in 8 weeks. But as of now 5 or 6 of them have just started to flower. I’m imagining another month for the oldest of these small plants.

Of the first 3 I planted in the red family, one was sickly, discussed on another thread. One is doing ok but looks too small and struggling. This one heres Red Poison is skinny but it’s the only one that looks like it’s doing anything

you can see that it is beginning to flower in this close up that’s all artistical and everything.

There’s been some deaths in the family, but that’s to be expected. One of my Gold Leaf did not germinate. Another one barely germinated and then “damped off” I think. 3 germinated. Anyway the plants doing the best seem to be from ILGM as demonstrated by this auto blueberry and Amnesia Haze.

This close up of the stem on the Purple Kush shows purple flowering.

It looks like insect damage. I would suspect white flies…

The 8 weeks starts now. Time given refers to flower time. Looks like you are just coming out of pre flower.

Ok. Right. Lol my sense of time has never been the same since the concussion. Not sure I get autos yet. They flower so early, I think they’re still growing up while they’re flowering.

The insect damage is thripes. I’m using the cinnamon and clove spray.

I have 34 plants total, 30 little autos, 4 photoperiod. Plus I’m planting 5 more photoperiod soon. I’m not going to be following/monitoring each plant here though, so this journal might be kind of random.
Anyway, here’s this little Purple Kush auto at 9.5 weeks.

Mostly I wanted to post this picture which is, if you zoom in really close and tweak the colors a little it’s like a work of art.
