Acceptable yield per plant

Maybe my scale is broke because my plants were much larger than the one pictured and had more bud.

Flower density is probably the difference. I had one cola that weighed 41 grams dry. I tend to grow shorter plants.

Could definitely be density. How do you gain density?

Beautiful plants!

Okay, hold on…
So, ive got 6 plants in a 4×4 tent in 5 gallon fabric pots. I have 2 lights, an HLG 200 Rspec and 300L Rspec running at 645ish PPFD’s from the canopys. Soo what your saying is, each plant is going to need its own amount of light and its not like growing in the actual sun outside because we are using Watts and not solar energy. Im getting this now.
So, my question being, since im new to all of this, is, i dont know which ones are going to be the females yet. Im sure im going to be down to at least 2 or 3 plants once i cull out the males. Will this be okay? Will i ultimately be slowing down all 6 of their veg growth cycle? Or will they catch up once i identify the males and remove them?

If you are running feminized plants then you shouldn’t get any males.

A good base metric is 200 watts of quality LED’s, per plant. That and genetics are the two biggest factors in growing lots of dense flower. Everything else needs to be spot on and a light hand on the pruning scissors.

Yes, im not pruning them as much as i do for tomato plant or catnip plants. Im experimenting on 4 different catnip plants im growing before i do anything to my Cannabis plants. I test everything out on them first.
These are just bag seeds so, i have no idea what strain they are let alone which are going to be females. Im doing this grow on a blind. This is my first grow for Cannabis. Its not that much different than tomatoes or catnip but, ive built up an indoor grow tent and i am in for a ride. Ive never done this before.
Will the lights i have now do the trick? At 200 watts per plant i should only have 2 plants in my 4×4 tent with the 200 and 300L Rspecs, right? Will the other 4 still grow if i keep them in the tent? Should i have my lights cranked up to full power? Im trying to keep a PPFD of 650 at the top of the canopys. Right ? Its only about 450 watts with both and about 1200 ppf combined at full power

You can grow 6 plants in that space, but I’d keep them small. You can grow two plants in the same footprint as one larger one for example. Larger plants would likely develop more airy flower although You aren’t far off of having the correct amount of light. You’ve got quality lights that would allow you to run as low as 30 or 35 watts per square foot which you barely meet with those lights. You may be just fine.

That said, if it were my space I’d only grow two trained plants in that space. Something like running a SCROG.

Yeah it’s all about lighting then nutrients and environment you’ve got to have good lighting I have the scorpion Diablo in the 4x4 and ran 2-300 L’s in the 3X3

This is good… i am only veging 6 because i dont know which will be females. Once i can spot the males and cull them out, ill be down to 2 plants, probably. Theys say its 50/50 percent chance of a seed being female so, i am just hoping for at least 2 or 3 if im lucky.
@JJ520 i will eventually be buying another light in the near future. I will be set then. I just have to figure out the placement layout for them all to hang without shadowing each other.

For indoor grows you should be looking at what you’re producing per area of canopy not per plant. Since the environment can be controlled indoors you could essentially grow one plant out to be extremely large and produce a lot of weed. But you could also grow a bunch of small plants in the same space much faster and theoretically have the same yield potential if everything else about the grow is same.

A decent grow space should be able to produce 50 grams per ft². A really good grow space in capable hands can do better.

I would normally get anywhere between 7oz and half pound per plant with Autos .if i didnt have get rid of my last grow i would ended up with a pound or two per plant ,you really cant judge by what other people get cause everyone grows differently and gets different results ,but getting 14oz all up thats a good yeild bro

Harvesting too early will also affect yeild. All to often people harvest when the buds still have a lot of fattening up to do. Genetics also plays a role. Auto flowers usually wont be as dense as feminized plants of the same strains.

Thanks man. I forgot my white widow was 1.5 weeks behind the others and i only got .8 oz from that plant. So definitely room to go up next time. Im happy with the yield. I just wanted to make sure im not lagging behind too bad.

Ive never had a plant ready to harvest at week 8 or 9. I never go by what the seed company time-line says. I always go by checking the trichomes for cloudy to amber. I also dont consider the plant to be in flower until the calyx’s are stacking and there’s buttons forming on the ends of every branch. Theres usually 2 weeks or so of preflowering where theres some hairs starting to show at some of the nodes. I dont count that as flowering.

Enough to get us to our next grow. 2 plants that gives 6 would be nice. Learning we smoke more even though ours is way better is mind blowing. We have his and hers glass smoking utensils.

I think im gonna try your way for this next grow. Ill only do like 2 or 3 weeks of veg and let them go longer in flower.
