So as I start my 3rd grow would like some help and opinions on my grow.
Trying to perfect technique for LST.
Set up: 2x4x5 tent, HLG260XL lighting, 5gal landscape pots, 4" in line exhaust and carbon filter, Aperia Ph20 meter, TDS meter, and using FF treo and the 3 soluables.
Dropped seeds in water on the 25th and into
seedling soil of the 28th. She just broke the soil this morn.
how about leaving dome on till it touches leaves or a couple weeks take dome off a couple times a day let some slow moving air blow on her to help stem be strong
Notice “droplets” on leaf. 3rg day out of ground, never noticed this before. The droplets are somewhat tacky, not just water and rather thick and syrupy. WTF.
Personally I don’t use a dome. My lights is at the top of my 80” tall grow tent. My seeds with tap roots is in a 5 gallon bucket. So a lot of height between soil and where the light is at. Zero problems.
Once my new 4 plants are ready to harvest I will try different techniques. My GSC Beast prevents me from moving the lights up and down.
1st time I’ve tried it. Last grow I had some seedlings dry too much and it wasn’t good. This seems to control moisture very well, at least so far. This girl is looking good.
I don’t dome either. Always drips on the leaves when the lights are on and causes spots.
I usually mist them and let them dry before putting them back under the light.
You shouldn’t really need the domes anymore. She should have some root growth. You have them in clear solos so you can monitor the root growth. I don’t transplant until I have a good amount of roots in the solos. I don’t pay attention to the size of the plants to determine when to transplant.
This one got big in the solo because the root development was taking a while. I like to get the roots to start circling the bottom before I transplant. 1. It hold the dirt together well when removed from cup. 2. I can make sure the roots make contact with the mykos I put in the transplant hole.
Thanks for that info, that picture of the roots helps a lot as I’ve never seen how much root growth is proper for transplant. Looks like mine could go a while as no roots are showing yet in the clear cup?
Yep, let it go. The main point of transplanting is because the roots have outgrown their home. Transplanting too early, the soil can fall apart as you remove it from the cup and cause some root damage and that’s where you get your transplant shock. Once they start circling the bottom they have a good foot hold on the soil and it should come out cleanly.
Mykos…I’ve done a little reading on that. The FFOF has some in it (don’t know how much) but I do add 25% perlite to the FFOF. My last grow I had no shock from transplant they actually went nuts with growth within 30 hrs.
Definitely add perlite. OF will compact on you if you don’t. Adding mykos to the transplant hole will also greatly reduce the transplant shock. It’s food for your roots to really take off so the plant doesn’t just sit there, not growing, as it’s trying to put down roots. You sprinkle it in the hole and on the roots themselves as you remove the plant from the cup.
