Ok so this is a bunch of screen shots of videos ive shot about LST. It is not near as informative as the videos but since we cant post video here its the best i have. There are 2 seperate grows featured here. Both of which ill post the end results at the end.
So with these i started very young as you can see. The plants will generally look sad after you start bending them over so dont stress about that part. Theyll recover 10 fold.
Only grab the plant in between nodes and when you lock them down try not to be on a growth point. If you cant avoid it dont sweat it, the plant will correct itself. If the stem seems very stiff like its going to snap off if you put too much pressure on it then bend it as far as you feel safe doing. Wiggling the stem over time to kind of warm it up like bending metal or plastic will also help it to form the way you want. As will slightly bending them and coming back in about 10 to 20 minutes and trying again. They tend to loosen up and are much more agreeing with the new growth pattern.
Youll notice that i have the base of the plants trunk supported opposite of the direction im pulling from which is crucial in the beginning in order to keep the plant from potentially uprooting or growing at a slant. It also gives you plenty of extra tension where its needed.
After a a couple days of locking down the top cola below the lower growth. I come and readjust my tie points and keep laying the top cola down below the lower growth which is now becoming lateral growth to itself as aposed to apical growth. During this time the lower lateral growth will have started to outgrow your top cola. This is when you start taking the lateral growth and tieing it down to the same hieght as the main cola. Doing so in a pattern that fits your grow area or mental plan of how youd like it grow for you. I personally take my bottom branches and force them to grow the exact opposite of the main cola, and space every other branch evenly in a circle until all is done. “Crop Circles” is what ive coined it as lol. This is a rinse and repeat method that takes plenty of time and detail to stay on top of but the end results are always worth it. Plus it helps keep you busy if youre like myself and am always looking for ways to improve the grow. Very hands on.
This second grow is one of my current grows which is a Zweet Inzanity Rbx. Ive used the exact same method as previously but in this one i upgraded to “gear ties” from home depot for lst wire. It works amazing and has been probably one of the best investments ive made towards my grows because of the absolute versatility of the product and its infinite uses.
@MwOutlaw573, sorry, I got home late tonight and didn’t have a lot of time in my grow room. Next time I have them out I’ll get better pics for you. I wish I had taken some shots of this one a week ago. She looked incredibly similar to yours. When I first started pulling her branches they were less than an inch long, so I couldn’t even tie them down yet. I roll up a strip of paper towels into a tiny cylinder shape and wrap it with electrical tape. Then I stick it between the branch and the stalk to act as a spacer. Then if you tuck the fan leaf that’s blocking it’s light, it will only be a couple of days until it’s long enough to tie down with the green plant ties. The binder clips work perfect on fabric pots.
Welcome @MwOutlaw573 …Ive had some plants depending on the strain and pheno-type start smaller and squatter then others, but they often just take off out of no where…They look fat and healthy…So keep it up!
It’s my first grow too. I was nervous about doing anything with my plant but decided to give it a shot. LST made a huge difference. Here is a picture before and after of the difference in just 2 days after strapping down the main stem.
oh damn. With bulbs 6500k and the veg switch brings UV.
Until the End.
I thought it would make bushier nugs and cause the plant to produce canabanoids as protection. Today I will find out how I misled myself and rethink this
IDK, I bought the HLG UV-A and am deploying limited use.
Still reading all available material, but willing to only trust forum friends, not sellers, too much.
My whole grow is about learning.
Will UV-A kill bugs or mold? (I have neither, currently).
Learning, while I still can.
DR Bruce Bugby, USU may have valid information.
Me too @Mosca his word is getting around aint it. More listening got me sitting on the fence. That nerd from DeBacco university is alright too. And Harley Smith, those three are my main sources for a while!
I have a cold room with three big windows, very bright winter days, that’s where short stuff is spending her last few days. Faithless leap, but hopeful, need to see for myself.
Update…so Idk if it’s the strain or what but a month in and here is where I’m at. I did not lst bc honestly my nodes were so close I didn’t feel comfortable doing it.
