So I’ve heard, I can’t wait ![]()

Another over due update, hydro is kicking in good , just did a rez change and uped nutes to 4g/ gal, hopefully they take it well, silica at 2ml per gal and southern ag at .5 ml per gal. I run hydro with bennificial bacteria to keep root rot away
Auto pots still populating the pot with roots so still hand watering for a little longer 2ml/gal calmag and I upped nutes to 4g/gal here as well, might be a little high but we’ll see how they take it also phed to 5.9
2 weeks in, everything is going good so far hopefully stays that way
. Stay lit y’all ![]()

I might have to switch to something like autopots at some point… this moving plants all over to allow for runoff is a lot on my little arms. You liking it so far??
I’ve done the rdwc several times now and that is my favorite so far, auto pots are new for me so not sure about that yet. Most people that use them love em . Prepping the coco is a bit of work, not sure I like that part but once I figure out a good flow probably wouldn’t be too bad , so that’s sorta why I decided to run both as a comparison biggest thing with either way is getting your rez to stabilize so you’re not chasing numbers once that is good you’re golden ![]()
stay lit grow sis ![]()
I keep mine in trays on risers and use a 500 cc syringe to take the water out or just swap for a clean tray.
You still have to lift the risers if you wanna swap the tray tho right?
I bought dunnage racks for them but I still have to lift/move the plant if I want to swap something to catch water…in hindsight, I should’ve gotten longer racks.
Yeah I might have to buy something… my thought was a turkey baster
but I’m gonna have to look up this 500cc syringe… thx Sausage.
And @Zudnik - since you’re familiar with rdwc you’ll have to let me know when you feel you can compare your thoughts on if one were to consider dabbling in the future…

It’s fairly easy. Just lift the plant and swap em out. The syringe is nice.
I had to look up a picture to see how big it actually was… daaaaaaaayum!

I’m 5’nothin"… I picture myself sitting on the floor with both feet up on the top while I’m pulling up the plunger with both hands…
(Sorry @Zudnik for all the nonsense in your thread ![]()
)
I hear that a lot. Its not my fault!
. Mine came with a little hose but it can get tough if you start pulling any soils or residue through it. I have extra trays and risers. I normally just do the swap. Put the new tray and riser behind plant. Lift plant the push out old with new. When the Afghan twins wake up I’ll get some pics.
@Krista don’t be picking on Kap, he can’t help it.![]()

Maybe… But I’ve yet to get any complaints ![]()

I have my next Halloween costume now… I’ll be a nurse with this syringe… it’ll be so hilariously large next to me, I would get this syringe just to have it… but a purpose for it is also nice ![]()
No need for apology grow sis, I’m good with excess chatter ![]()

I’ll put something in here later today to give ya a little insight on rdwc, at least so you know what you’d be getting into. Stay lit y’all ![]()

So my rdwc setup came from pa hydroponics , a garden store in Pennsylvania. I was gonna try and diy this but after pricing it out it wasn’t really much cheaper so I just bought his setup, total cost was about 450$ give or take. These buckets are 13 gallon buckets you can get 8 gallon if you like I opted for the larger ones because the larger the body of water is the easier it is to maintain your pH and ppm( I learned this from having several fish tanks for many years) anyway I just checked there website and pricing is still the same as a few years ago
. These come wth everything you need the only thing I did differently was order 2 separate blank tops meaning no hole for net pot and I drilled a 3" hole for a 3" netpots. These ship with a 8" netpot installed the difference being it holds less water with the bigger netpots, and honestly I’ve never had an issue with the 3 inch so that’s how I fit 30 gallons and can still keep the water about 1" below the netpot bottom this helps force the roots to search for the water and take in oxygen as well. If it’s something you think you’d like to try let me know I can definitely help you get it setup and running ![]()

Update, Maui moose
Nutes climbed a lot more than I wanted, ec went from 1.5 to 1.7 water level didn’t drop either so removed 2 gallons and replaced without nutes only added silica and southern ag, that brought in a little better at 1.6 now just make sure it stabilizes and probably another week of hand watering for the autopot girls, sour moose, then we turn on the rez
On another note my grape Ape is about to get chopped ![]()

Thank you for this info, when I have a little more time to shop around and research I will look into it, I really appreciate your help! ![]()

Ok grape Ape is in cannatrol And should be ready to try in a couple days
Got just about 5 zips out of her, happy with that ![]()
Now hydro is cranking along pretty good, I’m getting more familiar with my new equipment ( pump and ph + ec meter’s) also set up a hydrone5 as a closed loop and so far everything is looking good
I did trim some of those elephant ear fan leaves as they just needed to go too dam big to tuck anymore. I topped the left one, gonna top the Right one here in the next few days
, time to start some training here and lopping off some excess growth .
Auto pots are now turned on and should be smooth sailing from here hopefully, only put about 10 gallons in the rez until everything looks good, easier to clean up 10 gallons then 25
Stay lit y’all
