150 micron Keif -Trim Tray Hash

What’s up guys. I have a trim tray with 150 micron Screen that I used to trim all my plants with. I’ve accumulated about 1/2 cup of Kief from the bottom of the 150 micron tray. (I’m sick of looking at the jar)

Most of the weed that I grow would be total fire so the trimmings assuming at 150 micron would be considered mediocre?

If I were to make bubble hash from this Keif would it be a very low grade or even worth making?

Would make some excellent hash, all my Keef is blended as well. Consider that it’s several more times potent than the bud THC :love_you_gesture:

Throw a few scoops into your shezwan beans. A few minutes before you pull them off the heat. Or a few table spoons before you bake some cookies. Makes them better.

Just take that kief press it and heat it to around 170° F. for about 15 to 20 minutes. Pull it out, give it an extra crank and let it cool. Or, if you don’t have a press, fill a round mason jar with amost boiling water and put the lid on. Put your kief in parchment paper and fold it as tight as you can. Using a potholder, start rolling the jar back and forth pushing as hard as you can. Once it flat, open the paper, fold your kief back into a square, recover with parchment paper and repeat. After doing that for about 3 to 4 times, unwrap it, get your hands as hot as you can ( i usually hold the jar for a few seconds ) then take your hash chunk and roll it with your hands. This process will keep your hash pliable. These 2 hash balls were from my last 2 grows. Cocktails with some killer weed and some hash sprinkled on top really relieves the days stress.

@Autofreak had you going in the correct direction.

Making bubble hash is a completely different method than working with kief. In order to make bubble hash one has to use the water/ice extraction method.

Happy farming… :farmer:

I’d get one of those t-handle kief presses. I pressed about a 1/4 Oz into two pucks earlier this year.

I ran into a small (well large) dilemma. Over the course of about a year and a half I accumulated a lot of kief from my 150 micron trim tray from multiple harvests.

The Keif was a very beautiful light tan color with absolutely from what I could see no green contaminants

With diabetic eyes and poor lighting I just concluded a trim jail session that got me tons of new kief that I simply added to my old kief jar.

When trying to press the press the kief with boiling water wine bottles I noticed it wouldn’t melt. I then stepped up to using iron and it wouldn’t melt as well.

Taking it into better lighting downstairs I noticed the key was no longer tan it was Green and it’s no longer meltable. (I’m such an idiot sometimes)

In conclusion it doesn’t take a rock and scientists to figure out I over pulverized the green sugar leaves turning them into powder that easily contaminated mixing with my good keif.

Now what
Running it back through the 150 micron trim tray did absolutely nothing as I anticipated that it wouldn’t.

I’ve put everything back into the freezer and my thoughts were, I’ve got 2 oz of trim in my freezer from harvest. I was going to simply dump all this Kief in with the 2 oz of weed trimmings and run it through a five bag ice bath process. The fact that I’ve pulverized the leaf into a pounder I’m not sure this is even going to work for me what’s your thoughts?

You could get something like this. If you look around, you maybe able to find just the finer micron screen on it’s own.

You might also be able to find a single one a a silk screening store/shop

I’ve done that too… I don’t have the screen so I just ran it all through my Source Turbo and made a ton of qwet lol… fine for edibles.

I think I have a 75 micron and maybe even a 25 micron filter for the bucket. I know it’s pulverized into a powder. I’m just thinking that maybe the ice process of screening through the different filters of the five different sizes that I have may work. Or it may not :open_mouth:

It was screened through 150. I have 90 75 and 25 that might fix itthat might fix it

It might. If you have bubble bags you could try that. The ice should help separate…

It’s definitely working. Each layers color changes.

160 micron all green
120 micron light green
90 micron tanish
75 Micron tan
25 micron light tan

Problem is there’s so much 25 micron that by the time I get to it it takes an hour for the water to strain as there’s so much Keif at the net

I’m on my second run now I’m getting ready to start my third I’ll probably do 6 runs

That’s a good problem to have!

This was made from using only sugar leaves from my trim and a few small underdeveloped buds and it gets me pretty stoned for context I’ve been smoking for 22yrs and have a very high tolerance compared to most but if its already in keif form and doesn’t actually need to be separated from the plant material i would just use it as is to top bowls and infuse joints/blunts

I just wanted to conclude my post and the different experiments that I utilized in making bubble hash.

I’ve made bubble hash many times with the five different micron level base path method utilizing Frenchies wine bottle water pressing technique. It works just fine and always has.

The beginning
I started this mission with about 1/4 of a big mason jar bottles filled with clean light tan 150 micron kief from trim tray cleaning.

I had about 3 oz of trim that I wanted to run back through the trim tray 150 micron filter and then I wanted to make some hash by simply rolling it out with hot boiling water wine bottles.

The Major F-up!
All of my trim I was screening was incredibly dry (first mistake) I accumulated about seven tablespoons of kief from all my trim getting run back through the trim tray.

I then mixed it all together with my existing mason jar of nice clean kief. (Second major mistake) Because of my eyesight I didn’t realize that the new kief that I added to my old Kief was actually severely contaminated with over grinding my trim causing plant matter to powder up and fall through the 150 micron filter.

This turned all of my kief totally green and would not melt due to how much plant matter it was contaminated with.

THE FIX
I decided the only way I have a chance of recovering my kief was to run it through a fine bag micron ice bath procedure. My hopes is that everything would separate and I could regain my goodies.

I ran about an entire 10oz bottle of kief and 2 oz of trimming that I had in the freezer through the ice bath 5 gallon bucket technique. I took 8 hours to run it through six times (yes six times)

To my surprise it worked perfectly I ended up accumulating a bunch of…

160 Micon (I tossed it)
120 micron (I saved)
75 micron & 25 micron (I mixed together)

THE EXPERIMENT
I wanted to try to use a iron to press the hash versus Frenchy’s hot water wine bottle technique

For me, The Iron worked out much better. My struggle with frenchy’s technique was…

1.) having to keep heating up the bottle
2.) having to keep boiling water
3) working with an extremely hot wine bottle requiring gloves.
4.) having the bottle pop out and spin off the table because you’re applying so much pressure.

The Amazing Conclusion
I went to the thrift store and bought a $7 Rivel Iron and a $1.75 Dough Rolling Pin

If you set the iron three clicks before acrylic on your irons dial it heats the iron to 152° f I double check this with a handheld mechanics digital thermometer gun for 100% total accuracy.

I took a section of a plastic cooking/roasting bag and put two tablespoons of 75 micron freshly washed and dried bubble hash keif stuff and folded the plastic wrap in half.

I then placed the folded plastic wrap inside a slice of parchment paper and folded it in half.

I gently ran the iron over the parchment paper applying a little pressure for approximately 45 seconds. I then flipped the paper over and repeated for an additional 45 seconds.

I then use the rolling pin applying much more pressure and started rolling the nice warm bubble hash as it easily started to flatten I opened everything up folded it in three times and repeated the above process.

After doing this for 20 minutes totaling four times I was able to easily press the hash between my fingers and form these little squares. (I don’t like the balls for some reason)

The squares came out into little solid as a rock perfect hash squares.

I then tried the exact same thing on the 120 micron bubble hash. It came out perfect as well except it had the darker black hash look to it because it’s 120 micron

I have tons left to do then we’ll do it at my convenience over time.

What made it easier
1.) the rolling pin can take more pressure than a wine bottle.

2.) the rolling pins handle is far more controllable than a hot wine bottle.

3.) 152° f iron melts the hash perfectly leaving it nice and warm as you roll it with a pin

4.) the exact same results as a wine bottle boiling water procedure with none of the mess and aggravation.

I broke off a little piece and gave it to my guest last evening. After two hits she was couch locked. Mission accomplished

Note:
The finished hash will be stored in the refrigerator for drying and curing. (That’s how I’ve done it in the past)

Thank you all for your input as well. I’m truly grateful!

Amazing!!! I’ve been doing the wine bottle technique for a long time and honestly I might need to run over to goodwill and get me an iron!!! Thanks for this!!!

I also like to make moonrocks and pucks as well.

My son rolls blunts sprinkling with kief. I’ve heard a lot of people talk about moon rocks. Correct me if I’m wrong isn’t that just bud rolled in keif?

I roll small bud chunks in RSO (thinned) and then keif

RSO, is that hash oil?
