Grown indoors, PH is around 6.5-7. Watered once a day, or when soil is dry. I tried adding a very small amount of calcium, it has been 6 days since, but I am afraid to overdue it and problem has not gotten any better. Need help!! One is blue dream and the other Skywalker Og. About 30 days old. Only on the bottom leaves so far, hoping to catch whatever this is early!
What type of soil? Lights? If you are still in veg, you want your numbers on the lower side of the 6.5 to 6.0. During flower is when you want the 6.5 to 7. Have you checked your ppm at runoff? Do you know your humidity?
LED Full spectrum lights, inside of a grow tent, with a vent fan setup. Humidity hovers around 40-55%, no idea on the PPM. I used some miracle grow potting mix and top soil from the back yard. This is my first grow. I wasn’t 100% sure on the soil to use.
Gottcha. First off, welcome to the forum, youre doing good with what you started with. I grow in Coast of Maine Stonington Blend. Alot of folks here use FoxFarm. I dont know what your budget is, but to get you started, i would suggest some cal-mag and find some worm casings. You can top dress with worm casings ( work into the first few inches of soil ) and water slowly until you get about 20% runoff. Ypur plant will take what nutes she needs from the casings. In the meantime i would invest in a tds meter so you can check your runoff ppm amd ph.
excellent soil choice. I ran 2 grows with COM when I used soil, super clean and loaded
@OGIncognito i have no complaints. Im even going back to their dry amendments next grow around.
Some of the cleanest and lightest soil I’ve seen
Hi before this plant done youll be picking out soil and stuff for next grow.
Now you need to get your watering in order to figure out problems. Looks like 4 or 5 gallons of soil Id guess around a quart every 3 to 4 days, by your foilage. Of course thats a rough guess but shouldnt be watering everyday
Hey @Wackybacky420
That looks more like nutrient burn and not actually a deficiency. I have the same problems. My ladies will be doing fine until I add fertilizer. By the looks of her she’s a month to 5weeks? Both coast of Maine and Foxfarm souls have enough nutes in soil for veg.
The other issue is of course PH fluctuations. Unstable or erratic ph will cause plant to develop these symptoms. If you lower PH and it stops, great. If not, I do a flush and then try to balance nutes.
If these are not autoflowers, I would transplant into a different soil. I agree with Coast of Maine Stonington Blend is good soil.
Idk which miracle gro potting soil you used but your issues look like watering issues imho. If its the regular potting soil, not the organic, Ive read about many people having problems with their soil. A lot of people state its hydrophobic ( repels water) water runs out yet soil stays dry. It also contains time released fertilizer that can cause issues.
I believe you will run into more issues if you continue with miracle gro but there are people who successfully grow with it. My neighbor uses it in his grows but he really doesn’t have great results.
If you continue in this current soil i would try adding some saponins in addition to @ChittyChittyBangin suggestions
Good luck and welcome to the forum
I’m with @GreenJewels When you choose to repot Look at a cannabis friendly soil That will head off a few problems down the road. Welcome to the community good luck !
Wait. So are you watering daily, or are you watering when the soil is dry/the pot is light to lift?
Daily watering for a plant that size is very likely overkill.
How much water and what is the frequency? Getting watering right is the first and most important basic we should focus on before going down any nutrient rabbit holes.
So I was watering about a quarter or half a water bottle a day. Just when I got off work. The soil was usually dry by the time I got home. But reading through these comments makes me feel it might be my poor choice in soil that is an issue.
To be totally honest, you’re not watering enough and you’re watering too frequently. It may have to do with the soil, too, but your watering habits are part of the problem.
Well. I will do some reading. And determine a better watering routine. I also ordered some coast of Maine stonington blend. And I’ve ordered an apera 5 in 1 PH/TDS meter. It cost me pretty penny but I hope it’s worth it!
@Wackybacky420 , Welcome .!!
If it was me , and your lady is a photo. I would cut off the bottom (2 to 4 ) leaf’s , cut the center of the top of the stalk at the 4/5 node . get some root enhancer (Mykos) - mycorrhizal inoculant , to spread on the hole for the transplant .
Then transplant in the new soil . then read as much as you can on this great site , ILGM . and you will be a pro in no time , smoking your own hard work , good luck .
Happy Growing
Cannabis growing in soil likes a drench to dry cycle with approximately 20% run off. Unless you’re growing organic where the medium benefits from being consistently damp. Depending on the vessel size the frequency could be 3-5 days before it’s time to water or feed again
Awesome. Dude, you will be very happy i promise with CoM. As far as watering goes, watch your plant. She will let you know when shes thirsty. Heres a pic of some veggies i took this morning. Im manifolding the crap out of em, but these ladies are about 6 weeks from breaking soil.
Are you planning to continue with organic ammendments, helping it become a living soil or do you plan on bottled nutrients?
