Yes, they could work, but the best results in a SOG setup are usually clones that have been taken.
The issue you can run into when growing autos in a SOG setup is that they will grow at different rates. 4 may stay at 12" but another 3 are sitting pretty at 24". They key is to use all the proper pruning techniques to keep plants at the same height.

Hey there.
As Ktreez mentioned SOG is done with clones, and requires even growth to work correctly.
You want to research SCROG. This method is for any plants, especially plants from seed. The SCR “screen” allows you to tie the taller more vigorous branches down to achieve and even canopy.
