Worm castings and Perlite in Soil

I’m preparing a to move a seedling to a 3 gallon (11.4 litre) fabric pot. I’ll use something called BioBizz All Mix, a peat-free, pre-fertilised substrate for cannabis. I was going to combine 6L of All Mix with about 3L of perlite and 2L of worm castings. This ratios are broadly consistent with recommendations I’ve read about in various of the usual places online. Just thought to double check here before going ahead. I’ll be using some BioBizz organic fertilisers during the grown, once things get going (BioBizz says there’s enough nutes in the soil, once the microbes and stuff get going, to last for several weeks). Thanks!

I had somewhat similar steup in my first grow, the second was the same except 5G pots and this time back to 3G. Difference was that I used Light Mix.

If you follow my profile you will get to my journal. In the beginning there is a recipe for my soil mix.

Are you keeping a journal, I’d be eager to follow along.. ?

Thanks @Hopalong! I don’t have a journal, is that via this site? I’ll check yours out though! I actually meant to buy Light Mix (I’ve used it in my two previous grows and not had major problems) but the local grow shop was out of that I they gave me the All Mix instead.

Probably not bad, I just always got the light mix for my seedlings because I thought All mix might be a little hoy for them. My outdoor grow will just be peat moss + compost + wormcastings + perlite.

@mk1000 That is pretty standard ratios for a seedling mix. Adding kelp meal would be beneficial to the fungi as well as plants for many reasons (ie rooting hormones). That ratio would need 15 ml dry kelp meal; if you have access.

Thanks @Budbrother. Is that 15ml dry kelp meal added to the entire 11 or so litres of substrate I plan to use? I.e., not very much at all? And just mixed in when I prepare it?

Yes dry. That’s the calculated amount and a bit more for a seedling starting soil. Yup just mix in with the castings and all mix soil, but wait till last on perlite. Don’t wanna turn it to dust while incorporating other.
