On my main bud that was drying there is white fuzz…is that mold, and is it now ruined?
Sorry to say mold, and you don’t want to smoke it.
Thats my biggest cola…oh well…just that bud or everything that was drying in the tent?
Now im all tripped out…is this mold or crystals?
If it looks like a web/fuzzy with a eye loupe, it’s mold. I would inspect, and if nothing seen your ok, I
go by my Motto, when in doubt throw it out, not worth smoking. Good luck I’ve been down that road this fall.
Ok so that big bud is the only thing with fuzzy stuff on it…next time im breaking down my main cola before drying it…
I just went thru every other bud from tent and i threw out everything that still had wet leaves…
Throw out pile
Keep pile. Thats a gallon jar. This is like 70% of my harvest all together
Rip cola 2
Nothing on outside, but when i pulled her apart there was some. Barely…but its there
That white fuzzy mold looks like the same kimd that grows on seedlings when the ground is too moist, and exposure to air usually clears it right up…crazy that we have to dump so much weed over it
@Mr_Wormwood R.I.P.
Unfortunately it’s the right thing to do, learn from our mistakes.
I’d save it for tincture. Throw it in the freezer. When you’ve collected a few ounces you can decarb and then extract the thc. I use pure grain alcohol. Nothing lives through a bath in that.
Wash your bud at harvest. Wash it once and you’ll always wash.
Can i use it for edibles without alcohol?
I broke open a small bud on the same branch and at the stem there was a tiny webbing. Im not breaking open every bud (i did break up a few from other branches and nothing), but i suspect its there more than we know.
Oh well…any other bud it exists in, itll be discovered when i break it down to smoke or decarb
Also i had no idea we could wash bud. Ill research it. Thanks.
When I do my extractions (usually 9 ounces) I remove about 1/3 of the mix when most of the alcohol is gone. That’s my tinctures. I then remove all the alcohol from what’s left. I take half of that for vape and such. Then I use the same pan and add the last of the extract to 3 sticks of butter. That’s for my edibles.
Omg I’m so sorry for your loss @ExoFly
Interesting. I wasnt planning on doing tinctures til my next grow but that sounds like an easy way to get everything made from 1 batcg
Thanks man. Sucks. Hopefully everything else is ok…this is what i saved. I cant get a measurement bc my ounce/gram scale behaves wonky after time i try weighing bud. Theres always fluctuation. But itll do for now…plus i have another jar with about 2 ounces
Well it looks like you salvaged a good amount
Yeah, I like to keep things simple. Saving enough to make it worth my while really helps. 9 oz of product, one bottle of spirits, a little bit of work and presto chango, my medicine is ready for how ever I choose to dose.
Outdoor grow? Indoor? Regardless, what do you think went wrong @ExoFly ??
so sad. Next time will be the prize.
Indoor grow. It happened during drying, and im not really sure. I had them in my 4x2 tent with the 4" carbon filter/exhaust on 24/7…temps were 70 or bellow, and humidity ranged from 45% to 58%.
My only guess is that it was bc the main colas were so dense, there was zero airflow. Next time im gonna pop all the buds off my main colas and dry them on a rack.
Interestingly enough, i was just reading that a study found 13/14 homegrown buds tested had some form of mold on them. I doubt thats true with the more expercienced growers, but even if its a 1/4 true, still shocking and i dont feel as big of a failure
Then i was reading about washing bud to prevent this, and i found an article about curing bud under water, which can not only prevent, but also get a lot of the chlorophyll and salt builds ups out of the plant. You ever hear of this @oldmarine?
Beginnings of bud rot. Sometimes those fat colas that look beautiful can be trouble. They hold a lot of water and mold spores are just waiting to strike when the environment is right. If humidity was off at any point especially during flushing bud rot can appear out of nowhere
