White buildup around stalk at soil

Is this a stalk or root rot… Very new to this these are about 12-15 days old. Gelato auto and super skunk auto. In 3x3 tent pH runoff was around 6.0 do I just chalk this grow as a loss just shocked cause plant growth is looking good bit droopy cause I watered them is that the issue not letting dry out enough? There in 2 and 3 gallon pots and fabric bags

How often are you watering them? I’m sure they will be fine. But you definitely don’t want to over water! At 2 weeks old you shouldn’t have to water but about every 5 days or so. Most newbies always over water! As far as root rot  I’m not sure? The experts will definitely know!
@OGIncognito @BigItch @beachglass @The_Chef @Fieldofdreams @Spudgunner @SilvaBack203 @kaptain3d I’m sure one of these guys can definitely help! Good luck :crossed_fingers:

I haven’t watered till runoff I usually give 8 oz every other day… plants overall growth looked good till I watered for a pH runoff wilted a bit. New growth looks good. I just happen to notice it on the stems at soil level and a little above… I’m totally new so if some of my ?s make you laugh it’s ok…

Could that have been the part of the stalk that was under the soil and they just grew a bunch and they grew taller idk never grew anything not sure as to what stalks or roots look like under the soil…

Plus I usually wait till my pots are about as light as they where before I germinated my seed…to water them… not saying its not root rot though could very well be… They have 6 inch exhaust fan I’m pulling a small vacuum on tent… there is a oscillating fan in there as well. Temps are 75-80 humidity is 55-65. I was running 2 lights a vivo 2000 (200 watts) Mars hydro (3000) 300 watts. Both at 36 inch above plants… recently shut off the vivo thinking maybe to much light… But hell idk. Thanks for any and all help everyone and anyone… I do appreciate it

This was a few days ago. They pretty much still look like that minus some new growth… that and wilted from the watering for runoff some guy told me to do from a fb group. They were pretty dry anyway and needed watered. But I usually don’t give that much. Like I said it’s usually 6-10 oz of water per plant when the pots get fairly light.

No question is silly at all! If I don’t know the answer, someone here will! The people I tagged above are absolutely the best! They will be around soon. Always make sure your water is between 6.2 & 6.8 (6.5 being the sweet spot)
What soil are you using? Your plants look good so you shouldn’t worry at all! You will though have to start feeding them soon depending on what soil you are using.
Also that is a good method you are using as far as picking up the pot and watering when it is light!

You should be watering on the outskirts of your pot to promote plant growth. Your plants are to young to water till run off. I’m assuming your using soil like foxfarm or similar. There won’t be any issues but your best practice would be to learn the weight of your pot and water when lite.

I don’t know brother. I think your plants look fantastic! Going by the pics I wouldn’t worry about whatever that stem is doing. There’s nothing showing in the pics. They look happy and healthy. :man_shrugging:

What are you growing in?

Yes I water by wight of pot I have one off the the side with just soil I’m using happy frog soil I have given them trace amounts of green beams all in one veg-bloom nutes but I mean at a small fraction as to what there asking to use.

I typically spray the whole surface of the pot being it’s only a 3 gallon that surface is small I usually water till it has a little weight not a lot. Never any runoff. Until tonight. I was just worried is all. I do appreciate all your guys/gals time. All my new leaf growth is nice and green. Was just worried. They hit a growth spurt and I noticed the whitish stalks and was worried.

I gave them a small dose of 3 parts water 1 part milk and gave them a small dose thinking maybe stalk rot but like I said everything looks good even the new growth is full and green… sorry for bugging yall any input is well appreciated.

This tent I’m so proud of for my first grow I’m very pleased with how things are looking.

I wouldn’t worry about it as long as the new growth is still coming along normally. When watering when they are small, try not to get the stalk wet. Watering around the edge to make the roots stretch is what you want. When they get bigger and the roots have spread to the edge of your container, the stalk is hardier and you can pour the water in then. That’s what I do, anyways!

They look good! Don’t worry!

Hey man maybe that’s what I’ve been doing wrong… I’ve been dumbing it right down the stalk… I didn’t do that in other tent I have… so that’s one thing I’ve done differently in the 3x3 than the 4x4… could it be some type of burn from nutes or root enhancement?
I Did give them a small dose of that… maybe that’s where the fat stalks are coming from. Lol. I did kinda pinch the stalk to see if it was mushy at all felt normal just moist…
Could that have been the part of the stalk that was under the soil and it happen to grow from lower pushing that above the soil level?
Like I said probably a stupid ? But anyways Much appreciated. This group of people are amazing.
