When should you begin to flush before harvest when trichomes still clear, partly cloudy or full milky ?
I usually taper my feedings…but don’t really flush at the end of the grow. The consensus seems to be that it does not help with bud taste or quality.
What medium are you growing in and what nutrients are you using?
Some people prefer to feed until the day of harvest. I prefer to go to simple PH’d water about 2 weeks before harvest if possible. If you have more than 2 plants in that window, try one each way. Keep them separated through dry and cure and see which one you like better. I didn’t really see/feel/taste a difference so I saved a little on nutrients by doing the 2 week water only flush. Hope that helps.
Info above is correct. Flushing your pots will not remove or cause anything from the plant to get used up. If you’re able to time/estimate harvest date properly, feeding the last ~week won’t change anything with your plants, so there isn’t really any reason to use up your fertilizer on them.
If you’re not completely sure about when to harvest your plants I would default to feeding them. If you think its a week and it’s really 2-3 can have negative impact on your harvest.
Agree with other growers, just back off on the feed , and water only. The last two or three times . Personally, at that point end of plants life, I don’t bother to PH the water. Good luck ![]()
Oh you ask a highly debated topic…,one where people who don’t flush will tell you crazy things and try to convince you they’re right and you don’t know what you’re doing ![]()

Truthfully, your medium and line of nutrients determine the need to flush more than anything. In my experience. When in soil I didn’t flush. Now that I’m in cocoa using GH Flora nutrients it’s a must.
I personally start flushing once the tris are mostly milky bc I prefer to harvest when the thc level is highest. Some wait until they start seeing amber before flushing. Others don’t flush at all.
My advice is to experiment when starting out. You can harvest the same plant at different stages to see what level of maturity you prefer. Can also grow two plants of the same strain. Flush one and not the other to see the difference. ![]()
Goes both ways ![]()
Im doing dwc and i dont flush. I didnt flush in soil either. Nothing wrong with my buds.
Running Autopots in coco I just go to water only for the last two weeks. There’s quite a reserve of salts as I don’t bother with periodic flushing of coco. Running water through just takes advantage of that.
@Not2SureYet gave me a flushed vs unflushed test and I could tell them apart.
So…Coke or Pepsi?
It’s the BudWash2000, auto agitation is guaranteed…
We talked about this at the Grow Club Event. Check out my post.
Was an actual study done the shows flushing does absolutely nothing but push the remaining salt in your medium out and still has no effect on final product, if you give someone bud flushed and not flushed and don’t tell them they won’t find a true difference only when you tell them that one was flushed will they then say their is a difference, tried with Lotus nutrients, advanced Nutrients, even Miracle-Grow and you can’t tell a difference, if you properly water to run off the salt won’t build up and you won’t have a need to flush, and could recycle a charged medium. This is 3rd grow on some of my Promix and not a problem, and I never flush anymore its wasting nutrients that could be used on the next round.
As you can see they don’t mind recycled medium
DWC technically gets flushed once a week but understand what you mean full feed until harvest.
I flush biweekly
