I am a new grower and confused about lighting my plants are 4 weeks old and on a light rotation of 18 hours on And 6 hours off How long do I keep them on this schedule and when do I change to the Bloom light
Assuming you are asking about photoperiod strains.
The longer a plant is in vegetative stage the bigger it will get. This means it needs more space, more light and more food. The amount and type of training also plays a significant role.
With that said, the ballpark time frame to switch to 12 hour light schedule is around 8 weeks. I have gone longer because I only had one plant in a 3x3. I have also gone less because it was Sativa heavy and a fast grower.
Hi there. Depends how big u want your plants. After the flip your plant can double in height. Consider height of light and tent. 12/12 is what to set light. What kind of light?
Agree with what’s already been said. Most tents are around 6 1/2 feet tall, and the light hangs down reducing the overall height. I personally wouldn’t let a plant get over 24” tall before flipping to 12/12. That will put your plant at approximately 4 foot, plus pot height, and then the amount of distance needed from the light which is approximately 15 to 24”. So kind of do the math that way.
Thank you, that info really clarify things.
Thank you all for your help… I really appreciate it
My plants are 5 weeks old and I’m noticing they have these very large leaves am I suppose to remove theses leaves at some point?
I wouldn’t remove anything at this point. Later on when it’s bigger, and flowering you may want to remove a few covering some select bud sites, but leaves are the plants solar panels, so I don’t like removing them unless they’re damaged. I’m growing an OG kush who had some leaves as big as a paper plate, so I had to remove some of those.
If it was mine I’d do some lst!
