Hey fellow farmers lol couple questions here. So I outdoor grow. I’m out of my harvest from last season and realize I have to quit smoking till I harvest again. Continuesly tried dispensary bud and can’t believe how bad it is. It looks nice , sometimes smells nice. But tastes horrid and doesn’t even get me where I want lol. No matter the price and bag lol. What is the deal with it ? Is it even real bud? I’ve even tried a delivery service and it’s still trash. I don’t even believe I’m a pro grower but my stuff blows it dispensary away ! What’s the government do to it ? To conclude I would love to make a friend or 2 where maybe we could mail some? Trade harvests? Just wondering. I’m realizing the only good bud is home grown .ty
Cause it’s made by people who are in it for the money not the pleasure. Makes a huge difference.
There are good tasting and pot that gets you high but it is very limited.
If you stay in the shallow end it can be difficult to find good product. Our state does not prioritize bulk purchasers and most of the oz products sold are garbage like trim or popcorn. 1/2 oz is better and a local to ohio company called Klutch has some good stuff that delivers like Gelato and Orange 43.
And yes they do not grow good pot because they do not have too. The system is set up like a cartel with rules just like a cartel. Can not by from another state or they send people with guns to your house.
Now let’s imagine they same thing for Tomatoes and say it out loud and see just how stupid that sounds
Ps I ammend dispensary pot with Rick Simpson Oil if I can not get good pot.
A lot of the grow houses dont do a cure after drying. And they all seem.to grow the same stuff. They want short, fast finishing, dense bud plants. Its hard to find good dispensary weed sometimes. Somenbrands are better than others though.

But yeah I haven’t had dispensary weed that really got me stoned since I’ve started growing pretty good weed. I’m amazed lol literally a bunch of my friends growin now cuz they can’t believe how easy is haha
The dispensary weed is a joke… Not only is it not good because they hurry to finish it and don’t cure it properly. They don’t flush the fertilizers out of it. It also contains pesticides. There is nothing better than the homegrown stuff for sure. The way they process it knocks the trichomes off of it which they are hoping for because they collect them and use them in other products.
If you watch YouTube videos of growers who work for mass grow operations provide grow advice your questions will be answered
I use the same place for 95% of my purchases and that’s mostly RSO.
I have a few budtenders who ask about my current grow and of course I gotta show pics when asked l.
My son has a very wealthy friend who operates 5 weed greenhouses.
He told me they grow plants fast then flower them for 8 weeks.Harvest freeze dry then spray with a synthetic thca .Dry again.Package up and out the door.
Turn around 15-16 weeks.Then start over again.
If you have a jewelers loupe check out dispo weed then check out properly finished weed.You will definitely see the difference.
As mentioned it’s all about the coin.

@openMeasure . It does! I think my comment was misleading.If dispensary weed is what you like then have at it.Ive had it several times but after growing my own there is really no comparison IMO.I’ve been a outdoor gardener since the late 70’s. Just an old school guy with an old school opinion.

Do some research on your area, look for small grows or boutique smoke. It is usually a lil more but almost as good as home grown. I’m in missouri and I have only found 3 dispo brands I consider to be decent 1 that is kinda good. After you grow some stuff that splits your wig nothing else adds up!
We travel a lot. Have seen dispensaries all over. Have had only 2 out of all of them I would revisit. Both Native American owned. Both organic. Both long ripen/cure. Every other dispensary was fast grown, early harvest, minimal cure. The ONLY thing I would get from them are edibles and concentrates. Thier top shelf doesnt match my bulk stuff. Far fewer cannabinoids. Quick high that fades very fast. Little to no medical value.
The Native shops now, they have solid flower along with all the goodies. First flower I have bought in a while. 5 hours away so have to do a vacay to re-up from them. I am still months out after rebuild so having to buy.
Money over medical. Dispensary view. Just my thoughts.
I’m in a state where medical was voted in over 30 years ago. Where we’re at now is comparable to buying produce. The bulk and the majority of the produce sold is GMO and sprayed to hell with pesticides BUT if I choose to go to a few select boutique organic stores or farmer’s markets I can find produce comparable or better to the best homegrown produce but $$$$$$$. There are a few select (very few) dispensaries here that grow with care and love of the sacred plant and put out top shelf bud but $$$$$$$. Since I ain’t a billionaire I need to learn all I can on ILGM and grow my own! Plus it’s fun to boot!

Yeah, freshness probably makes a huge difference too. Homegrown usually gets dried, cured, and stored with a lot more care than something that’s been sitting in packaging for months. Have you noticed whether the dispensary stuff in NJ is usually old when you check the harvest or package date?
