What instrument are do you use to measure ppm

Depending on what stage and the nutrients used.
For example, some that use “Jacks 321” use the same ppm from start to finish.

I use General Hydroponics Maxi series or General Hydroponics flora series.
My ppm is roughly 200ppm as seedlings, 300-400 early veg, 400-600 full veg, 500-1000 in flower..

These are kinda rough estimates but any nutrient should have a schedule for each stages and following that should be just fine.
As for how much water, it needs to just be enough to get a good bit to run out the bottom each time.

As long as you get a nice amount to run out the bottom (runoff) each time, it helps to keep everything fresh and new preventing things from building up and creating issues..

In coco-coir and perlite if any thing does build up causeing issues, its very easy to correct but not many coco growers have alot of issues from what i see its almost always liveing soil or organic grows.

So, you feed 1000 ppm (full strength Jacks 321) every day? And no need to check the runoff growing in coco and perlite?

I have no idea what what full strength jacks is but if it’s 1000ppm then yeah.
Many people say they use full strength jacks from start to finish.
Idk what the ppm of that is though.

I use General Hydroponics and I slowly increase it over time.

But yeah no worry with any runoff numbers in coco-coir if useing a “high frequency fertigation” technique, which is basically a manually operated hydroponics. Long as you get that bit of runoff each time it keeps everything moving and refreshed with each feeding… on the rare occasion if theres issues then sure, runoff numbers can give some insight, but it’s not something we need to keep track of not alot of issues with this method compared to soil and trying to balance ppm numbers and ph…

Whatever nutrient you choose to use will have instructions and from my experience its ok to follow there recommendations but most the time you can get the same results with slightly less then what manufacturers suggest…

But Google “high frequency fertigation with coco-coir and perlite” and watch some youtube videos on it and pick you a simple nutrient line like jacks or General Hydroponics Maxi series or Flora series, some cheap bricks of coco-coir and a bag of chunky perlite and you want regret it :+1:

With my ‘high frequency fertigation’ sytem I water 3 times per light cycle for 15 min. At a time…pumpin’ the GH nutes…Girls love the stuff / cant get nuffl

I just bought a blue lab conductivity pen. I live in the states. Do you use the 500 or 700 mode. I also use homboldt nutes. Help !!!

I use the EC mode. When I grow in coco coir, the seedlings start with nutrients at an EC at 0.5, veg grow is 1-1.5, and flower period is 1.5-2.0. The ppm conversions were confusing. Hope that helps!

I calculate 1/2 basically…EC of 2.0 would be 1000 PPMs 1.8=900 and so on. :love_you_gesture:

Thanks. That’s pretty simple. I just downloaded a conversion chart. You are correct. Thanks

I’m a retired/ disabled vet also. 12 years active duty Army. I’ve always grown indoors, hydro, but I have space and privacy now, so going for an outside grow. Getting my hydro room ready. It’ll be ready by harvest. 10x16 room outdoors. Sealing it up and my son is going to run power to it :cowboy_hat_face:
