What happens if plants go too long?

I had to go away and I just got back. I’m having a hard time viewing the trichomes.
She’s a gorilla cookies auto. Some leaves are turning yellow. The buds look healthy. This is my 1st serious grow and everything has been good so far.
Nighttime now I’ll add pics tomorrow
But my real question is what happens if it goes too long?
I think it’s about 10-11 weeks from flower.

If the plants go over their estimated flower time listed, there may be a couple reasons: the phenotype you have may require longer flowering time, the cloudy trichomes may turn amber in color and cause more of a sedating effect, or it might be right on schedule! I have leaves turn with the seasons on my cannabis plants just like they do on trees, so some yellow leaves arent always a harbinger of disaster. While 10-11 weeks from flower on an auto may be a pretty long grow and may produce more sedating effects, it does not mean the plant is a total loss. Good luck! Put up some photos when you can, I bet she is still in the fight.

I’ve had some go to seed cause I pushed them for more amber development, and it “over ripened”.
That was 11.5 wks photo in flower to be exact…only 5 seeds though

My last grow was in flower 14 weeks . Most tend to pull early IMO

I disagree. Granted im a noob. First grow now but great video on youtube giy tested the plant every week and amber ticomes were 5 percent a week lost from maximum thc. May give couch effect but def less thc also

I agree with @BigItch , most growers do chop too early. I get that too late degrades thc but when ur misjudging trichs, then u could be chopping before max thc levels anyway.

Its a very fine line, but id rather them go over a week then harvest too early

Yes! If conditions and schedule are all lining up, I also takem further through the calendar to the edge of diminishing returns.

Yea she looks as though she’s about done.

Id be wary of brownish buds. Anything that pops right off with nary a tug, maybe infected. I could be seeing wrong, but mold has bitten my grows before n no im on the ‘death on site’ train of thought

Yes the brown pulls off easily. I just pulled off all the brown and discolored leaves. Gonna chop now

Check out this budwash write up by one of my favorite members. Should do the trick.

I saw that too in the second pic. That bud has some “…ehhh maybe?” brown on it.

@PurpNGold74 has a good point, though…make sure the brown on the buds themselves is removed and do a good wash. He’s got ya covered.

I didn’t get the entire post. So should the buds be washed before or after drying? Or washed at all?

Immediately after chopping but before drying.

First grow and trying to figure out if its all going right
