I agree, there’s nothing like a good camera and lens to get that perfect shot. I happen to have that same Cannon, but I’m too lazy to use it. It’s just too easy to use my phone. I think I’ll give it a try though.
Totally agree. I shoot in RAW format so the camera doesn’t do any picture post processing. I adjust color, contrast, exposure, etc. in Photoshop. A camera just doesn’t have the processing power to do it better than a computer. However, for fast shots, phones have pretty amazing quality these days.
I got mine a few years ago after I went through another Samsung Digimax D35, totally Love the Cannon, waterproof and weatherproof, I can take pics of my fish catches underwater!!
That’s a nice feature. Mine is sealed but not waterproof. A light rain won’t kill it but water would be the end of my camera.
I do the same thing, take a bunch of shots then fix them in Photoshop. I’ve been adjusting the color of the LED lighting, plus I take the pictures through a cheap pair of anti-LED glasses, which I’m not happy with.
During my first grow I took thousands of pictures. LOL!!! But I was the only one looking at them, no matter I learned a lot. I like to take extreme close ups 'cause my eyesight isn’t that great, but I can see my plants better in the photos.
You can buy cheap lens filters that screw on the lens. I think I have green colored filter. I’m gonna go try it.
You can also screw on magnifying filters I have up to 10x for extreme close-ups. 10x doesn’t sound like a lot but on the end of a lens it is.
I’ve seen the magnifying lenses, but I’ve yet to find a green one.
i’ll be using that camera to take “selfies” of me on my next grow, I have a “Gorilla” stand tripod that can wrap around just about anything for great timer shots, I like the versatility of cameras, but like I said I also use my phone.
Something like this…
Can’t wait to see them! ![]()
You and me brother, you and me, we"re goin Big next grow !!! Treez big !!
Awesome! Can’t wait.
Oh wow, I think that’s what I need! Thank you for finding that for me, dollface! ![]()
Just make sure you get ones that have your diameter lens, Teal Sweetie ![]()
Can’t find my green filter. Bummer…
This is my other camera that I will be using when it really starts to flower.
Had to steal it from the wife. Has a super macro mode on it.
The only thing wrong with that camera is it’s in AUTO mode. LOL. Nice!
Well then which mode should it be in. Takes pretty good pics in auto. @Matthew420 would zoom be better???
For starting out AUTO is fine but watch a couple vidoes on the manual settings. You really need to be able to adjust shutter speed, ISO, and F-stops.
In darker settings the shutter speed needs to stay open longer to allow enough light to hit the sensor inside the camera. However, many times the camera won’t adjust ISO settings correctly, it’s just a computer chip after all. Your eyes and brain are more powerful.
Example… When you use your phone or a camera in auto mode and take a picture of the moon. It will be a blurry white blob. Adjust those settings correctly (thru trial and error mostly) and you can get this… and this still isn’t the best shot, it was a quicky.
