Yes it will. …
If your phone has an 8mp camera or better then you can take up close pics.
You can then goto your picture gallery, open that picture, zoom in on it, and take a screen shot.
You can continue to do this until the pic becomes distorted, which you don’t want. Usually i can see trichomes well enough to determine harvest after the first screen shot has been taken.
This can save you some money unless you just want the microscope. I bought one about two years ago but never use it anymore

I’m a first indoor grow noobie, so I’m experimenting with the best equipment to use to determine harvest by trichome development. I know there are some fancy scopes out there to take pics and such, but by far my favorite device is a 30x/60x lighted LED jewelers loupe I bought for $8.08 on Amazon. I also bought a Carson microscope but found the loupe is ideal for observing trichomes quickly and easily.

Agreed, i like loupes better than scopes, easy to use and quick to setup, just my personal opinion

Absolutely, and those microscopes need a stable platform to get a good view. I’m not inclined to cut on my buds so I can have a sample to lay on the counter to view with a scope. Oh no!!
@samuelgreen on the lab side suggested this loupe to me…and I cannot be more pleased!!

I do have a nice luminated loupe, I am looking for something to take pictures with. I have plenty of tripods and holders and clamps to use to hold the camera/scope so stability is no problem.
thanks for the head-up on the lighted jewelers loupe @MT3. i have put it on my list of stuff to buy. anyone have an opinion on a cheap camera to use for pictures for my grow journal? i don’t have a smart phone at all or or camera on my laptop.
I found one - lighted for 9.00 on Amazon. I received it and I think it will work just fine.
