Well crap I got hit by thrips again

So I think it started from one plant as that seems to be where the most damage was.

I have two other smaller plants (one is a clone) that have some signs. (A mark here or there) Ive prayed down patient zero and gone ahead and put it outside.

The two smaller ones I sprayed down and currently have them drying . I went ahead and put diatomaceous earth in the pots . There was one other plant that may have been in contact for a short while. I sprayed that one down with insecticidal soap.

Its really annoying as I’m always careful.

Clone

Have you tried the blue sticky traps?it’s probably a bit too late for your case now, but in future perhaps set some up as they are supposed to be effective against Thrips if you keep getting them in your grow.

Be prepared for a battle, I’ve had thrips once and finally threw the towel in after several weeks. @kaptain3d @Caligurl may have some recommendations :love_you_gesture:

Thrips are a nightmare to get rid of… They tend to adapt to a lot of IPM strategy.
The trick is to use a 3 prong attack. I used diatomaceous earth to try to get rid of mine. It helped cut down on the bug population but I wasn’t able to get rid of them all.
I heard that Spinosad is really effective, and some people have success with Neem Oil products.
By 3 prong attack, I mean: One day you treat with one product, the next day with another and the third day you give it a rest. Repeat until you get rid of the little devils…

I agree with @kaptain3d on that. I use a myriad of products for thrips, but my #1 go to to mix in with everything else is PureCrop 1. But I add Captn Jacks Dead Bug, Lost Coast Plant Therapy, Dr. Zymes, and a homemade soap nut spray and sometimes Trifecta but I’m not super impressed with it but I got about 12 samples that I’m using up).

What I do is spray every other day and I rotate each product 2-3 times, so it looks like this:

Day 1 PC1
Day 3 PC1
Day 5 CJDB
Day 7 CJDB
Day 9 Soap Nut
Day 11 Soap Nut

etc…

Edit: How big are the plants? Is it possible to make a solution and ‘dip’ the pants? Turn the pot upside down and dip all of the green?

Actually they are both clone size advanced so estsblished but not trees.

What would you buy for the solution

You can probably dip in any of the above… I’d try Captn Jacks first, but here’s @Low dipping some clones in Aza Max (for spider mites).

Notice, he covers the pot and soil so it doesn’t spill out. It’s brilliant, actually! No need to inhale the spray and full coverage 100%… as long as they are small enough, why not!

Imo, that’s brilliant. That way you don’t miss any of those bastards bugs!

Yes I used azamax because it was locally available. But multiple products are recommended for thrips. They embed themselves in leaves so they get protected from chemicals. I pulled cuttings after the dark period. I had to dip 3 times and drench the soil. But all the cuts were clean after the first dip. Original clones got scrapped after cuttings rooted. They didn’t spread to any other area either throughout the process. Thankfully.

So an update.

Patient zero is no more.

I put her outside for quarantine reasons and she didnt make it so theres that.

Regarding the two clones. I bought a spray thats a 3 part mixture including spinosad or however its pronounced. Basically just sprayed the plants down and covered them with plastic for 24 hours . This was recommended by someone who used this exact process.

I also put diatomaceous earth on the soil and removed the leaves with obvious damage. I’m keeping a close watch and ill do another go in a few days. So far I am not seeing any new marks.

This is what I am using.
