Welcome to ILGM forum. As dbrn32 has said, it depends, indoors you need to decide what your height limits are. Outdoors entirely a matter of preference. Topping will help limit height and give you two main top colas, also will allow lower stems to catch up with top of plant.
I watched the germination guide. I noted that the germination process starts in a glass of water in a dark location. Up until the root is 1/4 - 1/2 inch long and is ready to be planted in soil, should it remain in the dark location? You don’t actually expose the plant to light until you put it in soil - correct?
Yes, I’ve moved the seeds that “popped” to a wet paper towel and kept it in the dark.
It takes sometimes 24 - 72 hours for seeds to pop so until then I keep it in the water in the dark.
My first grow in many years and I don’t remember a lot of what I did previously. lol 2 questions:
- I’ve seen a bit of variance when people talk about PH levels. I believe PH should be between 5.8 and 6.4???
I remember that I tested for electro conductivity. I’m starting out with simple dirt plants for my first grow and and will be using Humboldt Nutrients Oneness firtilizer. The instructions are below.
- When using dirt, what PPM of electro conductivity should I be shooting for?
Cuttings/Seedlings: 1ML/gallon
Vegetative Stage (Week 1-2): 3-5 mL/gallon
Flowering (Early/Transition stage Week 1-3): 5-10 mL/gallon
Full Bloom (Fruiting stage Week 4-8): 10-15 mL/gallon
Flush Stage (5-10 days): NONE
Correct. They don’t need light to germinate, just to be warm and wet. Imo 1/2" tail is too long too.
Hello! Im pretty new and have Goldleaf growing in a hydro setup. Some if the leaves are turning yellow but im having a hard time narrowing down yhe exact issue. Can anyone offer any recommendations from these pics as to what the issue is? Thanks a bunch!
I ordered banana kush and Bruce banner. The banner seed’s germinated just fine but none of the bananas will germinate. I have been growing for 15 years, first time I have had germination issues I have to contact someone about an exchange for another set of banana.seeds I really would like to try this strain.
Thanks
Try customer support through the seed shop page. That is always best course of action, as it will take you directly to the people that can help you.
Looks pretty stretched out, like maybe lights are a little too weak or not on long enough.
Do you know what strain this is? If its a photoperiod plant will veg indefinitely on a long light schedule. Won’t start flowering until lights on time is around 12 hours or less indoors. An auto strain should start to flower around 5-6 weeks old in most cases.
Hi this is my first time growing.
The plant is bubble gum auto seed sprouted 10/26/21. I have it in living soil I made from down to earth amendments, coco coir, and worm castings. I recently watered with a worm tea that I pumped up with next nutrients that I believe is the cause but not sure. Can you please help
Can anyone tell me what is causing these brown spots? Plants are almost 4 weeks old. Grown in black gold sungro soil. Light nutrient feeding started a week ago. Using 3 gallon pots but I’m suspecting root bound issues so planni
ng on repotting. Plants looked beautiful until 3 days ago.
Where did you get those bases for the cups.
Need more information about your grow to potentially help. Nothing there says you have issues with roots, especially at that age. I have flowered plants 10 weeks in smaller pots without issue. If you can copy paste a support ticket i would be happy to take a look.
So how do I copy paste a support ticket? Do I do that in the forum or somewhere else?
Yes, sorry. Follow link below and copy text, then paste here with all applicable info to your grow.

Sorry I get a “page does not exist” error when I click on that link.
Here’s the grow info:
- Plants are 31 days old
- Strain - northern lights, feminized seeds.
- Indoor grow, 2×2×4 tent.
- Using a Roleadro Grow Light, 1000W LED Grow
Light Full Spectrum - Soil is Black Gold Sungro
- Ph is 7, using a 2 pronged, 3 in one soil meter
- 3 gallon pots with good drainage. I water till 20% run off.
- Temp 75 - 80F
- Humidity 30%
- Good ventilation
- Nutrients - started feeding 3 weeks into veg: Per gallon - 4ML cal/mag, 2ML flora micro, 2 ML flora bloom
- feed every 4 days. Every 3rd feeding is water only
- Leaves, mostly lower leaves, have little brown spots, and are starting to cup. Growth seems stunted.
- I’ve seen a couple gnats flying around from time to time. Not many. No visible pests under the leaves.
Let me know if I have to provide this information another way. Appreciate any advice.
Thanks
I wouldn’t trust ph reading from 3 in 1 probe, but ph7 is a little high. Imo you should invest in higher quality digital ph pen that will measure more accurately. I use apera, but there are a couple others that are good too. A tds/ppm/ec tester would also be good to have around. I use cheap one from Amazon.
The two of these tools will allow you to measure your water and feeding before you give to plant, then you can collect some runoff and test again to see if/how it changes.
Hello everyone .
So my friend was getting rid of a couple of plants that are ready to go into flowering stage and I’m completely new to this. All ive ever done is some early grows but had to get rid of them when they were small . I’m hoping for some advice on what to do . I see people talk about tents a lot and at the moment I don’t really have the space for one so I’m also wondering if those are 100 percent necessary or not. Also the leaves near the bottom are kinda dying off but the rest of the plant seems super strong (I’ll provide pics)
Ive read a few sites but some say different things so I’d like to know the steps for this stage , how often should water , what kinda lights will work and how often they need them and whether it needs any kinda food or nutrients and what they are. Sorry this was lengthy I just don’t wanna kill this plant I’m also providing a pic of the few things she gave me that she had for it. I’ll take any advice ya guys got
Tent isn’t necessary, but if you have photoperiod plant will need uninterrupted darkness in order to flower. Getting dark period interrupted will keep them in veg or potentially cause plants to go hermaphrodite. This is why most use a tent to grow in.
Not really sure what is going on with your plant currently. This could be watering issue, or maybe there was a heater close. Sometimes lower leaves will die off from not getting any light too, but looks a little excessive for this.
