Any ideas what this is? Is it harmful? I only found it one spot between 2 big buds. A short bushy auto flower. It doesn’t smell moldy. Not sure if from spider or worm or some kind of fungus. Appreciate your expertise.
That’s mold from the looks of it.
Cut out the affected parts and discard carefully.
You can spray with a 50/50 mix of peroxide and water to kill any stray spores.
Edit : not sure if you’re in or outside.
Indoor try to get the rh down and up the air flow.
Outdoor just try to keep them out of the rain and early morning dew. More air flow if possible there too.
100% agree with Oldguy, get rid of it ASAP, or you heading for big issues. Iam a new grower to say but went through this gig last fall out doors, knock wood alls go on my indoors.
I cringe every time I see that white web mold.
Makes me sad too. Always a bummer.
Good advice above. Remove and treat. Get some good air flow.
Never seen white web mold before. Just powdery mildew and the colored kind of mold on outside of bud when drying too wet
Ty! Appreciate the help.
I’ll cut it all off visually. I was planning on making bubble hash from it. Mold wont dissolved in water or go through siv with trichomes would it?
Personally I wouldn’t want to risk it in any way , shape or form.
The mold will still be there.
I’ll stick to my original thoughts and say discard all affected material.
Doing a bud wash on the rest at harvest with peroxide will kill any stray spores.
I found pill bugs or rolly pollies whatever you call them cutting through the mold bud. I’m wondering if they caused it as they were right in the same area. Thier poop or dead bodies maybe just caused it in that one spot? It was an indoor organic grow. All other plants looked fine too
Often we see bugs or worms/caterpillars in bud rot areas. I assume they precede the formation of bud rot as they excrete waste in the flowers. Probably what forms the mold in the first place. However I have had a few buds develop that white web mold too and never saw any critters. Mold spores are everywhere and you will never ever be free from them. Low humidity and air movement will reduce the chances of it getting a foothold. This is one area where having airy buds is a benefit. Dense buds can be more prone to mold than loose ones.
