I had a question I was hoping someone may be able to help out with. I’m finishing up my first round of fem photos in 1 gallons fabric pots doing the 12/12 schedule from day 1. does anyone know of a good watering system I can implement to get some automation in the mix? Im enjoying doing the six 1 gal in half of the 10×5. seems like it’s going to be a decent yield per plant, you get to see a good amount of different phenos if you do the same strain, and it helps to go through some seeds if you have trigger happy thumbs when it comes to buying seeds (). the downfall is the watering! I’m doing the jacks and coco combo and it’s going well. the watering schedule is a tad difficult at times. once they got going in flower, it seems like I could’ve started watering twice a day. my work schedule is usually 12 or 16 hr shifts and combining that with when the lights are on makes for a difficult feed schedule at times. I’m hoping using some sort of watering system will allow me to keep doing this. Ive seen a floraflex system that looks like it may fit the bill, but I’d love to hear from everyone on here. any insight, suggestions, you name it I’m all ears! I greatly appreciate any/all assistance
@brownsfan100 G’day mate, is alot of questions i suggest fill out a support ticket an am sure all the gd ppl here will help, need more specific details an maybe pics on each plant be great, there are plenty of auto timers but you need a resivoir for that stuff so not really automated as you need to check ya ph an ppm daily on ya res. But might surfice for a short holiday with no help lol rock on mate
appreciate the response! so the watering system would be for future grows so I can’t get any pics I’m making it work with this round but I don’t want to do this to myself again unless I’m more prepared with a better plan of attack. I have a 32 gallon heavy duty garbage can i planned on using as the reservoir. jacks/coco plan to check pH daily. haven’t had too much experience checking nute levels with jacks. I’ve gotten from so many people on here “full strength from seed to harvest with proper runoff and you’ll be good to go” . so that might be a learning curve as well. I use tribus and will occasionally use big bud and bud candy in addition to the jacks just for that little extra. I guess the easiest way to word it would be if I don’t have to top feed and suck up runoff with a shop vac twice a day, I’m definitely doing this again! I can only imagine how more frequent it could get when adding in the heat of summer. cheers!
There are a lot of different automatic watering setups these days. AC Infinity self watering bases, autopots and blumat systems are the first to come to mind. If you’re a DIY kind of person there’s a very detailed guide on how to do that on the cocoforcannabis website. On that same website there’s a guide to make an automated system to deal with runoff.
Ill take a look today, thanks! I’m all for saving some money. then again who are we kidding, it will end up going towards more seeds or lights! setting one up should be in my wheelhouse, but definitely need some plans to go from so I’ll use that guide and tweak if necessary for my setup.
I’m currently using my cheap Amazon LED’s (yep they got me when I started) for veg and for flower I’ve been using the hlg scorpion diablo. I’ll see what I can do about those pics a little later today!
I use a RainPoint automated watering system.
Here are a couple of pointers I can share.
Do not use transparent hose it will grow algae inside. I use blue or black tubing.
I put an aquarium wave maker inside my reservoir to keep the nutrients mixed
I have heard many others talk about ph drift while in the reservoir. So filling up your 35g May cause issues. I usually create about 12g at a time.
Many automated watering systems I have researched have up to 30 minute watering cycle. If you do not get enough water in the 30 minute cycle. Then you can accommodate that by adding a second line to your plants.
when it comes to the reservoir, my plan is to put 20-25 gallons in depending on time of grow and I’ll use it for all the plants including the ones I want to get on autofeed system. Ill keep just the basic jacks 321 PhD in it and if I want to add anything, I’ll top feed or take some out in a 5 gallon bucket and go from there.
what is the power of your wavemaker? I got one on Amazon and haven’t used it yet. hoping it doesn’t cause any tsunamis haha
