Ventilation questions

Hey guys another quick beginner’s question. Do you think a 4 inch exhaust fan will be enought to keep it fresh in a 3x3x6ft tent while using a carbon filter? Seen some mixed reviews

You could get away with a 4 inch, the only issue i see is you will be running it max speed more than anything which will be loud and shorten the life of the fan. You need to factor in a few things when thinking fresh air/ventilation: 1) What type of light are you running and how much heat does it produce? 2) during the seasons your ambient temps will swing obviously so will your grow tent and room it’s in so even with good vents open etc… will you be ok with a 4 inch fan? 3) You still have to remove all that stale air out of your room the tent is physically in without this your fan isn’t going to do much of anything.

Personally I run a 475cfm 6 inch fan and its on medium to low during the cool months and usually full blast in summer and I can maintain temps OK with great ventilation and intake exhaust of my whole room. I am looking to upgrade to the t6 infinity line soon though. I have heard alot of great things about them… Hope this helps my friend!!

I also am running a 260 watt quantum board from hlg so my light heat output isn’t as intense as with a burple or hid etc…

Thank you for the advice! I never really put to much thought into weather changes. I purchased a mars tsw 2000 and have never grown before so I’m not to sure what to expect with the light temperature.

Maybe run your lights at night, helps me with temps

No problem at all @Newbie90 I wish you the best of luck and this is a great community of awesome people who know alot of different things, it’s a great place to be. I know that those Mars lights are pretty decent from what I have read and watched online. My qb will usually make my tent run around 6-7 degrees warmer then when it’s off. As @Tinman suggested run at night and off durning the hottest times of day and reverse that in winter to compensate for your ambient outdoor temps and you’ll get the hang of things very fast. I would definitely get a couple 12 inch or 10 inch oscillating desk fans or a good tower fan to move air in the tent also preferably in a corner close to a bottom vent to intake fresh air!

I have a 60x60x80, I will be using a 1,000 watt HPS/MH enclosed air cooled fixture on a separate 6’ inline fan in a conditioned space. I will run the exhaust from the fixture out of a window in summer and back into the hallway in the winter as to not effect the grow area with heat dissipation from the fixture. I will be running a 6" inline intake air fan, a 8" in line carbon filter, filter and fan located outside of tent and 2-6" oscillating clip on fans inside the tent to move air over my plants, also a wireless temp/hydrometer, to monitor temperatures and RH inside the tent. Does anyone see any problems with this set-up??? As always, I appreciate everyone’s advice, suggestions and comments. If you have read any of my posts, you know that I have been an outdoor guerilla grower and have dabbled a bit with the indoor thing. I know how to grow dope outside, this totally indoor grow thing is new to me and I want as much information and knowledge that I can absorb. This is a wonderful place, never had the access to the tremendous and vast amount of knowledge available here in the past. I sure do appreciate it and thank everyone on this site, This is a wonderful place to be. It’s like a dream come true. Thanks

if the odor is an issue the 6 inch is going to give you a lot more filter capacity. Much quieter at a lower speed doing the same amount of work. Happy growing
