@kaptain3d I usually top all my plants but ive just read its risky but ibe never had an issue. Its shooting out its 6th node and i usually fim or top. What would you recommend 
? Topping or not?

I would recommend topping on all plants. You get better control on the size and shape of your canopy, imo.

I agree with Kap about topping.
I even top my autos and never had a problem; though I didn’t top my last two autos, just harder to train autos in tiny containers, which I mentioned in my journal.
If it were me and if I did photos, I’d top every photo plant, tiny container or not, since there is the control and time in veg.

Not sure what would be risky about topping as long as the plant is healthy. I went on a mainline bender a while back topping up to 32 times. It made some beautifully uniform plants.

Oh, and maybe just me, I sterilize my scissors beforehand, with isopropyl alcohol and then let them dry.
I use sharp, smaller-bladed scissors for a precise cut; again, just might me, I’m kinda weirdo in that, and many ways.

I top everything so i can train them with lst ,i tie branches almost parallel so the budsites will become more colas. As you mentioned earlier i also sterilize my scissors with alcohol anytime im defoliating. Thx for responding and have a good day madam

Ive topped everything ive ever grown cap, Im really into growing and everything entailed with it. Im taking it serious and making sure im gonna get the best results. Thank you for responding cap ,have a great day @kaptain3d

It’s never a bad idea to keep your tools sterile and re sterilize often to prevent the spread of pathogens. I prefer a pair of flush cutters for topping and pruning to a pair of scissors. I was taught that scissors cut and leave an open wound were as flush cutters crimp the wound closed as they cut. It could just be old hippy hoodoo, but I do know that in the comparison I’ve done the ones I’ve cut with the flush cutters, for lack of a better term, “bleed” less and callus over faster than the ones I cut with sharp scissors. The exception being cloning for which I use a brand new sterilized razor blade to get the cleanest cut possible after using the flush cutters to remove it from the mom.

I looked up a few flush cutters (for gardening) and the search results seemed to be geared towards wire cutting. Are these the kind that you use, or is there a more garden-specific type of flush cutter to look for?

I’ve used both horticultural flush cutters I got from the arborist supply and some dykes from my electrician days and they both work. The main difference is the hort ones are often coated or stainless to make them more resistant to rust and easier to clean. The important thing is getting a pair with enough blade to easily cut the stems. Some of the smaller ones for jewelry aren’t big enough to make one clean cut. These days I just keep a pair of dykes clean and dedicated to the grow room.

Sounds like you’re prepared, just fimmed her with my scissors 
after I washed them and sanitized them with alcohol. I fimmed her at the 6th node. This girl is really green and pretty,I’m excited to see her mature

I didn’t mean to say scissors are bad or you can’t use them. Ya’ll know me by now, I like to over analyze every little detail and min max every aspect of my grow as much as possible. Just a tid bit I picked up from the finest grower I’ve ever had the privilege of learning from.

This is my best grow ever. The buds on 2 plants are getting so huge that Im gonna have to support them. They are huge,cant believe im gonna have 3 -4 weeks left. Im dialed in finally but still wanna get more advanced and knowledge. Happy growing Growfam!
