Using Canna Coco products for the first time

Hey folks,

I’ve been using Fox Farms in DWC and more recently in coco. My next grow will be in coco (which I am learning to love) and I am thinking of using Canna Coco A & B. I have also selected Big Bud and Bud Candy combo for the added boost to flowering. I also use UC Roots and of course CalMag for the coco. Does this combination sound right or are there more products I need to add to this lineup? Thanks for any and all help!

Sounds expensive…
Ide run Jack’s & fishshit, get fancy with some. Mkp as a flower booster)(dry nutrients)

Canna is expensive As is AN

Yeah, it’s on the pricey side. I’m still going to give it a run for a couple of grows and see what happens. Thanks for the answer.

Just so your aware people have done clone tests of other nutrients against jacks and jacks does just as good or better and it’s wwaaaaay cheaper.
The nutrient market is a scam most of the time and your money can be spent much more wisely on things like good fans, controllers, lights, autopots etc

But best of luck which ever way you choose to go we will be here to help.

Did a couple soil grows with AN Iguana Juice. Switched to Jack’s and coco. Couldn’t let that much AN go to waste.
I will say this. Sensi and Voodoo juice really do the job. I let the pot of coco and root ball sit for two weeks. It was obviously really dry. I pulled on the stem and that is all I pulled out. There was absolutely no root ball. There were some throughout the coco but for the most part it was consumed. It was not a puny little stem

Awesome documentation! Thanks!

Thanks, I will do some digging into Jacks. I’m comfortably retired, but I don’t like throwing money away.

No problem.

I am doing my first grow right now and the coco and Jacks is about as simple as it could get. I am stunned at how quick they are growing. This is 9 weeks and 1 day after sprouting through the coco, and day 18 of flower.

I really need to defoliate.

That was my initial thought when I first saw the picture. Glad to then see the comment at the end. It is good to do just before flip then again around 21 days post flip.

I’ve been pulling a couple hands full out with me anytime I open the tent. I figure I’ll strip them of all big leaves in a couple of days. Except for a couple at the top of each branch.

A question about that. Are you using the same part a and part b for flowering as you did for veg?

I am. There was a thought in my head as to running the basic Jacks formula beginning to end. That is the 3-2-1 formula of 3.6 grams part A, 2.4 grams part B, and 1.2 grams of Epsom salts. That is the only thing my plants received from sprouting seeds to flip to flower. It seemed to me though that with so many experienced growers using Jacks and still using bloom boosters of various brands, and adding silica to the nutrients would probably be a good idea. I have experience growing heirloom tomato plants from seed and transplanting into my garden, but this is my first time growing this plant and my first time growing anything indoors beyond vegetative stage. I wanted to learn how to grow this and how to do it as simply as possible. So I started adding Armor-si 1 or 2 days before flip and then switched to the flower formula that @AfgVet shared with me. For this first 3 weeks of flower I am feeding, per gallon of water,2 ml of silica, 2 grams part A, 2 grams of Epsom salts, 2 grams of part B, and then 1.2 grams of MPK -in that order. Then adjust PH to 5.8 and feed at the start of lights coming on. I am about to switch back to the original 3-2-1 feed ratios but I can see there being an argument to use it at about 4-2-1 instead. I know so little about the science of the thing that this is all a learning experience for me. I will put a tag to my journal if you want to see what I have done, and my results when they finally get here. The people that responded here understand things more than me, but I would suggest looking up Afgvet’s retirement grow, or @Hellraiser Skittlez and Banana Kush journals.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful and detailed response. Sounds like I am on the right track, though I’ve never heard of MPK. I will check that out. Same with Armor-si. Meanwhile, I will be adding the silica to the 3-2-1 formula. I also have Big Bud and Bud Candy that I am expecting to use during flower.

I don’t know anything about the science behind all this, either, but I do plan on learning as I go. Thanks again for the response. I am feeling the ground get a little more solid under my feet.

I believe the correct name for the MPK is mono potassium phosphate, and I can never remember if it is actually called MPK or MKP. If you get the Jacks there are people selling it in small amounts on a certain online auction site that rhymes with she-bay. I bought the 25 lb bags thinking I will be growing for the rest of my life- I think I have enough nutrients for most of that.
