Evening update - Girls are holding their own and looking good - except for the weird, curled new growth.

Camille got curious…

Then she tried to take a bite and had to leave!

Again found dead bugs upon inspection and no live ones. I’ll be hitting them again tomorrow evening with Jacks Dead Bug before LO. I’ve done a lot more reading on these things and apparently some types of mites are specialists at destroying weed plants. In fact, I need to find a new spray for 2 days after Jacks then complete the cycle again. So another 2 weeks? before the flip. But it’s gotta happen soon.

Mainly because I really only have another maybe 4" I can raise the light. This is a super powerful beast! It’s like 1200 and some leds :open_mouth:

I can take the hanger off the adjustable hanger and straight to the ratchet strap or center support and have no adjust-ability at all. And I guess that’s the next step.
I’m ready to just flip now and continue fighting the bugs as needed until the flowers get beyond the point of spraying.
I’m just kinda stuck as to what to do. They’re getting too big!
I won’t be doing 3 on the next grow - 2 max!!
If I can make it another week I’m going 12/12. That’ll be 2 months in veg.
First grow getting away from me! LOL!

Outside girls looking good overall. I did find a little patch of bud rot I believe. A result of the constant rain we had last week. If they call for another extended period of rain I’m going to one of those discount places and find one of those open gazebo things to put over them to protect from the rain. I wasn’t worried about the rain so much when overnight temps were in the 70s but we’re dropping into the 60s now…
I cut off the stuff I saw and checked the plant over well and found no more, but something else to look out for now. The NYD buds aren’t getting that bushy yet! LOL! The rot was on a GDP.
Exile on Skunk Street just keeps trucking along! LOL!

Any suggestions on how to proceed with the girls is appreciated and welcome!

I’ll boot one out if that’s what I need to do! LOL!

Happy Growing Everyone!!

Quick morning update -

Lauryn H. and Gwen S are looking fine but Mary J. the harbinger of bugs, and in the center stage, is showing weird growth and coloration .

The other 2 aren’t quite as “crinkly-looking” and the growth is lime green and no weird colors like Mary J has. This chick is about to get sent outside to finish off her days. And FAR from the ladies outside if I end up going that route. Hell, I wouldn’t even take her out the back door since the ladies are right there!
Stumped on this one. Googles I’m coming for ya!!

I did max out the height on the light this morning. She’s clipped directly to my ratchet straps and is as high as she can get - physically. I turned her back up a click too. Let’s see what it do!
As sturdy as the hanger is they provided with the light it’s very long. The Spider Farmer hanger was much smaller and compact - if that makes sense. It kept it a lot tighter to the adjustable hangers. The HLG hanger gives a foot or more below the adjustable - SF maybe 6-8 inches. I might get some steel cable and make my own - I’d like to be able to adjust the light in future grows. I have been wondering if the SF one can handle the weight? I thought about going to the pole up top but the exhaust set-up is on the pole and I’m not sure how much weight it can handle. Especially since I’ve upgraded everything SF had in mind hanging on it!
First world problems, I guess. LOL!

Not sure what I’m working on today. I’m almost convinced my scrog frame won’t be used in this grow. I think the plants have out-grown it at this point. Maybe I’ll string up the extension piece and use it like that this go around and have it completed for the next go.

Oh well, it’s the first real grow and I had ZERO expectations it would be easy! So I’m right on track!
Hopefully not making the same mistakes next time!!

As always - any tips, tricks or advice is welcome with open ears!!

Have a GREAT DAY and Happy Growing Everyone!!

Let mj ride out. It could be genetics shes looking healthy and beautiful.

@PurpNGold74 do you see anything wrong with MJ?

Since you not gonna net just do some lst and you will be fine

They’ve had 2 rounds of some LST and pulling, prodding etc.
With the silica they’ve been getting the last couple of weeks I’m not sure how much more I can do. Them stems are getting stiff!

I’m gonna have to use either the net or the scrog frame for support. Won’t be a true scrog but just to support the stems and buds. If I don’t string up the first layer of the frame the extension piece is at 35" and they’ll probably stretch that much after the flip.
September 1st will be the 2 month mark in veg in the big pots and in the tent. I’m thinking that’s enough.
I’m seriously considering hitting them with the Sledgehammer this weekend and doing the flip on the first of September. Both strains are 8-9 weeks of flowering so that would finish them up in early November.

By then I will have figured out how I’m going to dry/cure and begin that phase of the project.
So much to learn and so impatient! LOL!

Agree with @SilvaBack203 brother. Let’er fly Ely  I’ve got some of the same genetics that are SO vastly different in size, bud sites, flower production , and yet the puny ones (some) are flowering harder than the “big healthiest looking” ones (Amy Lee and Nancy Kerrigan). Who knows? they may end up being what floors you on one hit also? Try rotation (if you haven’t) in position and see if “centers” on that light aren’t brighter/hotter for her and maybe a periphery position to the side (ends of light) would suit her better?

YAY!!
“Out for Delivery” - My Gorilla Glue autos and 2 free Northern Lights autos are arriving today.
Much faster than the first order from WSE. By like a week.

Of course, the post office held them in San Diego for 2-3 days before they left there - so not the suppliers fault - just our janky postal system.

NO MORE SEEDS!!
*unless I find a can’t miss deal on some Gelato! LOL!

Question - Can you tell which seeds came from which bank?

Ain’t easy. is it?

I don’t know. Maybe I envisioned each bank had some Viking and his hot. blonde Scandinavian girlfriend living in Bridgette Fonda’s condo from Jackie Brown, going to LAX once a week to pick up a briefcase full of beans at a non-descript locker. Or something, IDK. But this looks like the work of the warehouse I spent a week at in Compton that we were setting up as a third-party shipper for the company i was working for at the time.
But - I seem to have gotten what I paid for, and absolutely nothing else…bummer!

Checking in on The Experiment…

EDIT Wrong Button…

Buds are forming up nicely, might have gotten a little burned today in the sun.
But I do have to look up a deficiency…I’ve seen this picture before and I hope I have whatever I need on hand… Hmmm…

More things that make you go Hmmm…

HGE!!

Well, I haven’t seen any bugs for a couple of days but I went ahead and gave them a big bath of Jacks Dead Bug this evening. I was following a method from another site but the Jacks says not to treat again for 3-5 days. Since I didn’t find any live bugs tonight I’m gonna wait the recommended period and see where I stand.
Atm the plan is to take Sunday or Monday night to inspect the girls again and cut out every shoot that’s low, slow or not up to snuff. And trim up some of the lower larf from the remaining shoots.
I need to read up on Sledgehammer and see exactly what they call for. I’ve seen some debate about how to use it but I plan on following the instructions. It’s their product, right? I’m sure, or hope, they didn’t just pull the directions for use out of their ass and it’s based on their research into how the product works best. If the directions are shit, then the product is too, right?

Wednesday - they go 12/12.

Well, the long range forecast atm says we might be getting deluged with rain again next week.
I’m hoping the woman can let me have some real estate in the solarium for the indicas. The buds aren’t forming up as much on the sativas so I’m not as worried about them as the bushier indicas.
If that’s a problem - one never knows - then I’m off to Ollies or Big Lots to hopefully find a tent or shade thing big enough to get them under for the duration, though that won’t spare them the humidity. At least they won’t be soaked to the bone. It’d have to be a 2-story tent to get the NYD under at this point! The big one is probably 10’ - COUNTING the 18" pot it’s in! But still - it ain’t going under much! :joy:

Might have to do the flush earlier as Mary J is still showing crinkly and weird colored new growth. Lauryn H. and Gwen S. are still looking great and growing well. Those ladies are great!
Still debating on sending Mary J. outside to finish and just have the two to worry about inside. LOL!

As per usual, comments, tips, tricks, suggestions are always welcome!!

Have a good night and Happy Growing Everyone!!

Yes fallow the directions on the bottle. I would only flush if you really had to. Depends on the circumstances.
And I wouldn’t be worried about Mary J. It looks like an old leaf. You could defoliate.

You must have looked at that last posted photo of The Experiment! LOL!
I think she’s got some Ph issues - which is possible being out in the rain. Who knows what kind of toxins those wildfires out west are raining do on us in the east! :scream:

All of Mary’s new growth is kinda funky and weird.

She’s probably gotten the most spraying of bug killers too since she was the epicenter, but the other girls seem to be booming because of it! LOL!

When I treated them tonight it felt like the pots are getting lite so I’ll be watering in the next day or so. I finally got my pen set up so I’ll definitely check the ro.

Where’s Seedo?

Second oz of Pineapple Cake, second seed!

Are bagseeds now and days mainly the results of a herm? That would be my assumption.
I believe I read somewhere that it will, MOST OF THE TIME, result in a female plant, but also increases the chance she’ll herm herself…

I’m really enjoying the smoke though. I was told it was Pineapple Cake and when you search it I see 2 names - PC and Pineapple Upside Down Cake.
But I also found a site that claims they’re 2 different strains PC being indica dominant, and PUDC being sativa dominant.
Humboldt Seed has one called PUDC but says it’s indica dominant. I’ve also read Humboldt Seed has a reputation for producing herms, so I wonder if this is coming from that and somebody just screwed up the name along the way.
I’ve only seen a couple of places that claim to sell the seeds and haven’t ordered from either before.
I’m done buying seeds for a bit :crossed_fingers: .

Nice. I say plant it and hope for the best. Might be the best weed you had so far.

Yea it’s unfortunate. All these strains are bred and bred again and mixed with so many different strains you never really know anymore. Sometimes it’s just pure accident and it gets cross pollinated and then they just come up with a random name. Sometime the genetics aren’t really stable it sucks! It sounds delicious tho! I would definitely give it a shot!

I save every bean I run across now and days. It’s not like the old days when you knew they were making weight by giving you seeds! LOL!
Tucked away in my little storage in the fridge is an envelope with 4 seeds labeled “Oscars 2018”.
Must have been a good year in movies! But they are fat and healthy! I think I’ve got maybe 20 bagseeds I’ve collected over the past 5 or 6 years. That’s not a bad ratio of seed to weed! LOL!

Still got 4 or 5g left in this bag and I have another oz of PC(?) tucked away in the jar waiting for exploration.
On so many levels…

I finally got caught up on your journal! Great read. Funny about that cannibis friendly section at the hardware store! I found the same thing at our local nursery. I recognized all the products that are mentioned on this forum! Take care my friend.
