This will be my first harvest. I think I have about a week to 10 days left? Looking for anyone’s opinion on how far along my trichomes are. Some pictures below.
-69 (10 weeks) old from sprout.
-Auto Flower, Double Grape by MEPHISTO.
-Indoor grow.
-Medium is Coco Loco by Fox Farms.
Time in flowering is what counts. How many weeks in flowering?
lol, about wife.
What is fox tailing? I really appreciate the help and knowledge. Thanks again.
Its when the plant begins to stack flowers on top of one another. It comes from high intensity light at the end of flowering and looks like this…
The way to prevent it is to dim or raise the light just a little in the last week or so of ripening.
Here is an extreme example
I dont see it on your buds.
So just wait till nearly all those white pistils turn brown. Then look at trichomes. I promise you wont ruin the harvest by waiting.
@Thads2day ; Congrats!!! On your fantastic grow , it looks very nice,
Now for myself I prefer Trichromes to be at least 70%
Amder color, ur pic is very well done nice n clear looking!
Did I read ur post right¿ It’s ur first grow¿ By the looks of things,
I would have thought you have been growing for years!!!
Your getting very close to Harvest, THEN the most important part falls into play, trimming ,
Drying, curing, the constant
BURPING of ur jars, so Mr. Mold
Doesn’t move in ,
@Spiney_norman , Thanks for taking the time and explaining everything to me. It’s a huge help. This community has helped me out so much during my journey of growing. I’ll definitely take your advice.
@Bigfoot1, thank you for the kind words. The community here has b en great. I’ve learned so much and have much more to learn. I’m excited for my first harvest. Thanks again.
Nice job
Looks like your trichomes pictures are on sugar leaves. They can be decieiving and show amber earlier than the rest. You want to focus deep into a bud and check the trichomes on the calyx’s. You are getting close be patient.
@Spiney_norman, do any of the buds in the pictures look like they are foxtailing?
I’ve been nervous about overdoing my lights and wanted to see what you thought.
I see one small spot that might be, but I wouldn’t worry about it.
Foxtailing more often than not is a genetic issue. And unless it starts presenting all over all the buds and not just in on couple places just carry on. The only real issue with full blown foxtailing is the you keep getting fresh new flowers and pistils. It makes picking a harvest time more difficult, but does not ruin a harvest.
After you get a few more grows things like this wont bother you. Cannabis does all kinds of oddball stuff and some of it, like foxtails, is fairly harmless.
I’m glad to hear that it’s pretty much harmless. The picture that you circled was the bud I noticed also. I greatly appreciate your help and knowledge. I’m looking forward to harvesting and don’t want to get it wrong and jeopardize the time I’ve invested in growing these plants. When I hang the buds to dry, Is it ok to have a small fan blowing in my dry tent as long as I don’t have air blowing directly onto the buds? Thanks again.
Yes, you want a slow dry to give the chlorophyll time to break down.
But some gentle air movement is good. Direct wind will dry them too fast and dry the outer areas before the insides.
A 60% humidity is a good spot to be in a drying room. Keep the buds out of direct light too. No need for darkness, but direct light like right under the grow lamps or direct sunlight from a nearby window will degrade your terpenes.
Beautiful girls…

@Spiney_norman. Thanks again for the help. I was not sure about how much air movement. I feel pretty confident that I have my dry tent ready to start drying buds with your advice. Just waiting on the rite time to chop the plant down.
@Scratchy, thanks for the info.
@Bosvarkie thank you.
