Full tent is going to be capable of producing about the same whether it’s 1 plant or 100 plants, so don’t let that discourage you. You’re going to work harder keeping a bumch of small plants in order, but also not going to kill your grow if you lose a couple.
If you plan to see this through, i definitely wouldn’t be topping or training them. Let them grow out as single cola plants and remove any side branching as necessary.
Room for that many will be challenging. I would top at the 3rd node and flip the light after week 4 veg. That should keep them short and compact, LST the sides and let them go vertical after the branches reach the outside of the pot. Curious on pot size, 1 maybe 2 gallon would be an ideal SOG size
I’d be thinking about 4 top mainlines in smaller pots. This is gonna get hectic, and I love it! Save yourself the trouble and possibly remove and serious underperformers.
The front left was Peach Puree CBD. The front right, back right and left was Blue Dream. The 3 plants pushed the back left into the corner. Cooked spaghetti noodles was stronger than the branches and what not. I got it out and it completely bend over. No strength to hold her up on her own.
But I did walk away with 2 lbs dried, cured and no stems.
Moral of the story…I won’t do more than 2 Sativas at the same time and I think I can pull off 3 or 4 Autos. My Autos yield up to 2oz each.
@MrPeat you put a 3rd light panel in the middle of those 2 with Bule or Uv and man you will have some killer quality but those two panels is doing great in there , which panels is that ?
@yoshi I have 2 HLG 260xl rspec. I’ve thought about adding another board to each panel. Then change the Meanwell drivers to the correct one. That is the advantage of the 260xl it has the holes for a 3rd light panel.
Maybe it’s because of the common thread that brings us all here because I can’t remember atm, but either @Newt or @Graysin added the third board and a smaller second driver rather than replace the existing one.
I’m sure whichever of them it was they’ll be happy to share with you what they did.
Made for a really nice light!
Yep. That was me, too.
Added a second driver and an HLG BSpec. Operating under the theory that if blue is good for veg growth, and the “transition” phase is both veg and flower, throwing the newbies in their transition under the BSpec flanked by two Rspec is a safe bet for good growth. @Tylersays way better memory than me✌️
Tyler has a ton of fuzzy green snippets of info slogging through that resin soaked grey matter…can’t always connect the dots or stay in the lines though!
Switched to 12/12 tonight things are filling in nicely i may have considered flipping the lights sooner but i wasnt happy with root development since transplant so i let them go a few days longer they range from 8 to 12" tall. If this turns out to be a worth while technique i might consider going straight into the final container tho.
I will be removing 4 plants, one of each strain, not because i dont have room but because i have an alternate location that has space opening up that has to keep the light on for a reveg so i figure to not waste the money on r unning the light ill donate 4 of these…
I’m curious to see how this turns out, I’m in the same boat with seeds, but have a hard time with smaller plants, lol they all look healthy, and I’m sure they will fill out nicely. Good luck, and please keep posting pics.
We are significantly showing start of flower now. Things are goin well no significant nutrient issues yet and no bugs. Obviously with so many plants from seed you will get a lot of different structures, some work better then others for a grow like this but overall ive been able to keep most of these thing in line with minor trimming. Ive ended up leaving a few extra lower branches, for the most part everything is exposed to the light with minor tucking. I was also hoping to have another space open up and i was going to use several of these lower branches as clones but that project has been delayed a bit so ill have to decide what to do with some of the extra clutter here.
Just a progress pic. Since i did 4 different strains i have plants of different heights so ill have to find some materials to help level out things a bit. My maui wowie are definitely my taller plants 24 to 26 inches . Most all the other planst are 12 to 16 inches tall except for my one rouge cherry pie that comes in at 29"tall. The cherry pie genetics seem to be unstable, what seems to be 4 different pheno type out of 4. One of them actually alternated between 2 and 3 bud sites per node and some how self topped a few branches with no evidence of any damage to main shoot. They just perfectly formed 2 stems.
I do have another foot of space on the right side of my tent but i still have a heater setup on the floor. I also wanted to maintain the test conditions of packing them tight together. So i am using a 30x48 space.
