Oh no I hope it’s not them, just read they can go 20" deep. Little harder to fight than gnats, but somebody who knows bug warfare and used bug killer would know how to fight them
It’s all good man. Your probably right about drying out the soil. The soil already stays moist with these self watering pots. And now I’m top watering every 3 or 4 days to wash down the nutrients. I just hope they don’t affect my buds. I haven’t seen any bugs whatsoever anywhere in my tent once.
Right on I hope they don’t set you back. Seeing them in your topsoil would be worser
I ordered some mosquito bits and sticky paper before I thought they were symphylans.
If those are in fact termites (which they appear to be), I would be more worried about the structure your plants are in then your plants. I’d be calling an exterminator, they didnt come from nowhere and I have seen termites destroy houses.
Those things are no joke.
Look like springtails I have them and they reside in my worm bin and nothing to worry about…if it is spring tails. They jump/hop suddenly
Not sure if you found definitive answer in subsequent posts but thought I’d chime in…
I would chage out and clean your bases good to start with. Are you letting them dry out before watering again? I quit using my bases for watering and just use them as catch trays, don’t really like the idea of having pools of water in the tent all the time. It’s an invitation for stuff like that.
Use a natural or homemade insect killer/repellent. Being prepared is the best prevention. I treat my plants regularly with organic fungicides. For your situation I would recommend something like crop defender 3. It’s not quite as organic but it won’t harm the plants and will come out either naturally or with wash. I would treat the leaves and soil.

If there are springtails they would not harm your plants.
Ladybugs could be used for helping control bad bugs but they are difficult to keep alive if there aren’t enough food.
You are correct. They are springtails. I honestly never heard of them before. I just quickly educated myself on them a little bit. They are harmless to the plants. And they also break down the organic matter and make it available to the plants. I appreciate the help. I just noticed them in my new grow. I didn’t see them show up until 3rd week of flower. They must have been in my living soil. Because I have sticky traps everywhere and haven’t noticed anything until today. It’s good to know that they are harmless.
These are almost certainly spring tails [rather common in coco].
If they float in colonies on the surface of standing water, that is your tell tale.
On the rare occasion you might see a species that will eat roots but most species of spring tails are harmless as long as the colonies you see are no larger than the size of a nickel. Generally with spring tails if they look cute, they are harmless.
To control population simply water with excess run-off and dump the run-off, if they get out of control the use of a very mild H2O2 will discourage reproduction [<1%].
Keep a 30-40x magnifying lens on hand to better identify pests.
