Hey all… As I prepare to flip the switch on my Bubblegum SCRoG and put her into flowering, I’ve been contemplating my next grow.
I’m thinking of doing a SoG grow with 10 plants in a 5 sq ft space (would 20 plants be better? ). I realize there are better ways to increase yields with such a small number of plants. However, this is more about getting the biggest yield, in the shortest amount of time.
I also realize this method of growing is better suited for clones than growing from seed. I figure though if I start with a higher number of seeds, I can then choose the seedlings that look most compatible with each other in an effort to keep an even canopy. What do you all think?
Also, I want to stay with a strain from ILGM. I was considering trying this with blueberry autos. Would reg fem seeds be better if I vegged for 3-4 weeks and then forced into flowering? Is there another strain offered by ILGM that you all think would be better suited for this?
Feel free to squash this idea; you won’t hurt my feelings. I created this post to get honest feedback before wasting my time and money. So any and all feedback, tips, or advice is welcomed.
I’m going to be watching. I hope you do a journal of this grow, I would love to follow it. Please tag me if you think of it.
I’ve never tried to sog so I’ll be lurking for info.
Good luck!
Clones are the only way to go when doing an sog… anything else will just be headaches and a pain in the ass and that’s just the long and short of it… just because I can’t go into detail of why using seeds would not be a good idea… trust me it just won’t be …clones , clones , clones… lol

Yea that’s what I figured most would say. I know the SoG method is better suited for clones, but wanted to put “feelers” out there.
@Matthew420 - I’ll definitely do a grow journal when I do this and will be sure to tag you. If I’m going to do it using clones though, it may not be as soon as I was hoping.
I’ll have to get some feminized, non-autoflowering seeds and grow them out to the point where I could get 10-20 good rooted clones for this. I was hoping I could shortcut this somehow. I guess with the SoG method already being a shortcut to a larger harvest, it’s not a good idea to try and shortcut the shortcut.
We’ll see… maybe I can find a way to get my hands on some clones. I don’t personally know any other growers though, so I may have to get creative.
I wanted to try blueberry, but maybe I’ll take some clones from momma bubblegum and hold off on flowering her a little while longer. I’ll make a decision before Monday, which is when I was planning to flip her to flower.

@peachfuzz I took a few clones about 3 weeks ago. All rooted and 1 of them seems to be taking off. I just transplanted that clone into my small half gallon DWC. She is doing well and showing new growth. My plan is to use her as the mother for future clones which I’ll use for my SoG grow.
For now I went ahead and flipped big momma bubble to a 12/12 light schedule. It’s only been 2 days and she already looks 50% bigger. I’ll post pics in my grow blog, Bubblegum - Take 2.
