new to LED growing have a 3by3 space with 2 Galaxyhydro 300’s. No information came with lights - what distance do you veg in and flower in ? all and any help will be greatly appreciated !!!
There are plenty of people here growing with them that can help with the heights, so wait for their input. Having 2 of them I think you’ll be around 30" for veg, and probably lower them down to about 14-16" for flowering. Maybe 12" if you harden them well.
I wouldn’t call them the best led by a long way. I would probably go as far to say they are a fair value, and leave it at that.

Here’s a chart for LED lights, it’s for equivalent watt, so if your LED light is 300W follow the chart for it, it’s not made for actual or real draw and it’s an approximation, that clarify, here it is :
120 W to 180W ~1.5 feet
180W to 300W ~2.0 feet
300W to 600W ~2.5 feet
600W to 1200W ~3.0 feet
1200W to 2000W ~3.5 feet

PS. Unless the manufacturer supplies distances, then these will work!

here is what they say : (Galaxyhydro)
Germination: 48-56 inches
Veg : 40-48 inches
Flower: 32-40 inches
these seem very high distance’s - I don’t want to “strech” the plant because of light’s being too far a way SO at present veg-ing at 18 inches and plan to flower at 12 inches (might be a bit to close ?) thoughts ???

So a 300 - 2.5 feet = 29 inches ? - maybe cut the distance by 1/2 = 300 at 1.25 feet then ='s 18 inches
300 at 18 inches
600 at 29 inches

If the leaves are “waving” or if you prefer are trying to reach for the light , in a uplift, you’re too far,
Au contraire, if they look “droopy” you’re too close. …
Your plant will tell you if she is happy,

Nope, your light is too far away, bring it down 6 inch at the time and play with it until the leaves are perpendicular or or just plain 90° from the wall , not down… @steve2

then it will be at 12 inches ?? too close ??? thought maybe the leaves are turning up because I 'm keeping them on the dry side at present. Thoughts ?? leaves up - can mean “give me a drink” ?

Nope, the “give me a drink” or the “I have drink too much” symptom are the same as “Wooh, I have too much light”, that is a “droopy” looks.
So, let her doing it’s “waving” for today at 18 inch and see tomorow if she is still “looking up”… sometime, time is the only solution…
If you have just giving her some “nutes” , it can do that too, sometimes…

I am in flower and all 4 lights are about 12" from my tops.
I did start out being cautious and had them 36" above but I quickly moved them down to about 20-24" during veg.

do you do 18/6 or 16/8 ? am at 18 inches and starting to see a bit of excessive heat or light - going to move to 20-22 inches . appreciate your answer !!! PEACE

Depends on how you grow really. If you scrog, have a large grow area that’s not full, or run multiple rows of plants, side lighting is kind of a waste. In all of those instances you would be better off investing in your main lighting.
If you are in a really small area with little room for top lighting, or you have 1 plant that you veg out for a long time, side lighting can help you out quite a bit and something like that would probably be fine.
You want to keep things in your grow space fairly balanced. If you’re running multiple plants, it requires a lot of rotating, turning, and moving stuff around. And then the little amount of time your plants spend in front of said light isn’t really enough to change anything. In the instance of a large room, there’s usually too much distance from walls where it’s convenient to mount light to your plants. Especially with a weak light, it really needs to be pretty close to have useful par levels.
Most people don’t want to hear it, but I firmly believe that you’ll be better off refraining from trying to improve your lighting $30-$40 at a time. Take that money and stick it in your sock drawer every time you get the urge. Once you have enough experience to know what you’re looking for, you’ll put that money to much better use. Most people (including myself) waste a lot of money when they get started. Everything seems so expensive, and it is. But in most cases there’s a reason why one light is $60 and another light is $300. Or one fan is $20 and another is $100. Not saying you do, or will ever need top notch stuff. But give yourself some time and few grows, and then decide where you feel your grows are lacking. If you think throwing a couple of inexpensive lights on the wall will get you there, then by all means.
Just my opinion, having come from a pieced together cfl system with bulbs, fixtures, and wiring everywhere. Take it for what you want.
