Third grow, third soil, and new tricks! Let's goooooo!

I saw a lot of yellowing on bottom leaves, so I decided to give the first feed. Unfortunately, I was so excited about using RSO water with airstones and new nutes that I forgot to feed at a 1/4 strength (OPE). I’m expecting some nute burn and curled tips tomorrow. I keep forgetting the basics on this grow UGH. I also added fish sh!t to this feed and figured Id leave the rhino for the next feed (@Hellraiser )?

That’s fine but I give silica at every watering.

3w4d (25d): Look at these beauts! Topped with some leftover coco from another new grow (Fourth grow, fourth soil (Coco!), more trials (Sick Selection Reg Seeds) and tricks!) just because. Almost time to top I think?

3w4d (25d) : Fed Wedding Crasher autos today to runoff. I didn’t mean to add nutes to the silica and RSO feed, so the ppm out is wayyy high (2217 ppm) and the pH is too low ph5.7.

@Covertgrower @Hellraiser @Myfriendis410 can you confirm if this is the right area to top? I’m hoping I counted the 4 nodes correctly.

fimming vs trimming

You don’t need to remove much plant material at all when topping: just look at the (attached) picture.

Thanks! I have that image saved. I’m aiming for my first SOG/SCROG and I wasn’t sure where exactly would be the best area to cut to ensure a nice even coverage and max buds!

3w5d. No feeds today, but I started cleaning up bottom leaves and topped all (very conservatively.

What could this be? water spray?

I’m going to clean up the plants more tomorrow. I’m also getting a fee curling leaves that I think is due to the standing fan being too close to the plants. That was removed and I installed a gentler fan.

Saw this white stuff caked on the filter, causing no exhaust for i dont know how long. I’m gonna buy another replacement filter cover and wash the one I have for now. Vacuumed the tent just on case.

4w1d (29d): Plants are looking MUCH better since removing the standing fan. Healthiest plants I’ve grown thus far!

This must be straight sativa. I’m not a fan of tall lanky plants ¯_(ツ)_/¯

4w6d: lots of pruning and conservative defoliating. Turns out the purple lemonade plant is an auto not a fem (opposite of what happened during my last grow). So purple and one of the wedding cakes are 5 days into flower!

@Covertgrower @Myfriendis410 @dbrn32 @Hellraiser when’s a good time to install the net?

I don’t need to use fish shit now, right?

Any time; you don’t want to be threading branches through a trellis after the plants have hardened off FYI. So you have a couple of weeks.

Is it worth the trouble if I only have a few weeks? I don’t know why I’m so nervous about the net!

Autos not really ideal to scrog, and I can see buttons already present on at least 1 plant. So unlikely the screen would do you much at this point other than some bud support.

If you want to get it in anyway, I would do that asap. Try to spread plants out under it while gradually bringing the screen down on top of them.

I think I’ll just leave scrogging for the all photos grow I started. Thanks!

Not with Tribus on deck.

When using net I usually put it in about 1-2 weeks into flower when they start stretching.

I’ve had some downs with sick leaves that I attribute to forgetting to add cal mag (which I didn’t think I needed with Jacks) and forgetting to pH after mixing. All in all, they’re looking ok. I’ve been practicing a lot of supercropping and I’ve defoliated as much as I can. The photos are going to veg for a while and the autos will keep doing what they do.

6w0d Veg (photos) and 1-2w flower (autos)

Weird leaves I’ve encountered:

Can someone confirm if this is due to a calmag deficiency? It’s on every leaf and has been for a while now. The leaves feel brittle and crumble easily.

Purple Lemonade Auto 2.5 weeks into flower. Feeding Jacks with Tribus , Cal Mag, and Silica. I only added calmag when I started to see these weird leaves 2-3 weeks ago. I thought Jacks had the calmag coverage. I had 1-2 pH mistakes because I’m running a coco grow and keep forgetting to up the pH after mixing nutes for the other grow. I’ve just never seen it so uniform.

Looks like a calcium deficiency. I don’t see anything representative of magnesium deficiency though.

Probably not from lack of calcium in your solution. If it is, you can increase calcium by increasing calcium nitrate into mixture. If had a magnesium deficiency, you could increase the amount of magnesium sulfate into your solution. That is why I agree with statement you don’t need any calmag when using jacks.

Having ph off enough a couple of times could show an issue. Or it could be that your coco dried out, or just not giving enough nutrient solution. Coco is notorious for having calcium issues if you allow. That is why most feed so often.

You don’t need cal mag with Jack’s. Autos generally prefer a lower salt concentration than photos and may be time you check runoff TDS and PH. Leaves affected will not improve so look to all new growth for improvement.

This is a soil grow using mostly HF. My fourth grow is all coco, which I feed daily.. These spots start occurring before I started adding calmag (because that’s deficiency I thought was causing the issue initially). After a quick flush, the ph is at 6.0 up from 5.5. Instead of going through 15 gallons to flush, can I pick up some sledgehammer?
