The Great Phauto Cloning Experiment

CFL vs LED bulbs. so… i fully intended to buy CFL bulbs. I searched for CFL. I sifted through for a long time trying to find the right wattage, color and price. why amazon puts @#$t in there that you didn’t search for, i don’t know… i ended up with regular 5000k LED light bulbs. but it does make me wonder what’s special about CFL. can I use LED bulbs?

Sure u just need to use alot of them as they are low wattage individually

They’re phasing out CFLs because the LEDs are more efficient, cheaper to make, etc. They’ll do fine, that’s what most of my tent is lighted with.

And that’s some serious mustard!

LED bulbs or CFLs? i’m confused by the LEDs being lower wattage. shouldn’t matter what it’s pulling right, just output? in which case wouldn’t a 4w LED be like the same as a 20w CFL? and i totally pulled those numbers out of my bum but hopefully you get what i mean.

The ones I got said “xx watts equivalent,” 23 I think. Lemme look…

No, they’re 23 watts, actual, “replaces” 150-200…that’s the “main” ones, but I have some that are the 4 watt that say “60 watt equivalent” or something similar, too. For clones, the small ones would work.

Day 4 Update. They’re not Dead Yet.

yep, that’s about all i got to report. i guess that’s good, right? the cow pots are getting covered in mold on the outside now too. gross. i got one wilty girl in the cubes. otherwise, waitin waitin waitin.

Not sure about the mold, might be mycelium, probably nothing to worry about.

ok cool. these are 15w and replaces “up to 100w”. this is gonna get more confusing as they come out with more bulbs measured relative to the already defunct incandescents.

You want to have a good amount of a tubal watts atleast 100 actual watts 4 preferably 5 squiglys in spitters will make you a nice little UFO make a tin foil reflector all the way down to the dome so no light escapes I’ve done that with great success just pull back a flap I spray the bulbs and all on accident of course but never had em bust and I’ve directly sprayed them many times… I’m making a double layer cloning cart I got 4 t5ho witch are 4 ft 54 watts x2 fixtures already got 2 layer 4 foot cats so now I just need to fix thebt5 fixture to a 2x4 on sidess… and same on bottom ,bottom will be for my buddy’s unorthodox individual qmwater bottle clones 1 Cline per bottle not very space efficient when I need to pull 30 successfully clones every week for my perpetual

I’m using 6, 23 watt LED bulbs, and they would be enough to veg a couple plants under even, more than enough for clones.

they work freaking great you wet the rorock wool 1 time and it stays wet for a week no spraying

wait whut 30 clones a week? daaaaaaaamn.

Yea I’m doing 196plant perpetual 7 to 10 day veg then strait into flower

my brain can’t even comprehend that

still tryin to figure out exactly what you did here with these bottles. what’s the blue stuff? how does oxygen get in?

There cut in half pool noodles to keep em propped up the bottles are cut in half to put the cut input the half the bottle on after u spray 10 days ingot roots

ha ok thx now i see it- looked like blue crystals at first. what about air?

When cloning u want it to hold the moisture as much as possible to keep the humidity up plenty of air comes in from the top which is crack and the bottles are completely cut in half… a top…and a bottom… take off top pot clone in rockwool cube … wrap the cube in a pipe cleaner to keep it together to better support the clones stem… put half a pool noodle in the bottle with it to wedge the rockwool in…(prior to putting the cutting in the rockwool you soak them in phd water dip my cutting in bontone 2 iba( iso butyl acid) and a percentage will be after it many products make many different levels of iba I’ve tried 3 different levels and really haven’t had any work any better or worse then others I like the powder type because it’s usually the cheapest spray the top …I do all this processing with aqua fina as it has a low 6 to high 5 ph …ideal for cloning no nutes no nothing till it goes in the ground or a pot and then only give water hopefully you have a good organic light seedling dirt… seedling dirt is very lightly charged …higher end seedling dirt has mycrozae and beneficial bacteria to help aid. The plant in break down the organics in. The soil …so you basically are only giving them water maybe a lil extra mycrozae in the water I like a product called foliar spray and root dip by microbe life a green bottle helps small plants or when transplanting

wow ok thanks. you really got this worked out. prolly too late for this batch but after i start my next run this fall i’ll give it a shot. thanks for the info.
