Temperature vs. Humidity in flower

Growing indoors in the Southeast. Summers here are brutal with temps in the upper nineties and humidity through the roof. I am faced with a choice as I go out of town for 3 days.My girls are starting week 7 of flower tomorrow. I have them in a tent in my workshop. I’m using a portable ac with 2 large dehumidifiers outside the tent and 2 small ones inside along with 4 fans moving air. . I should have set the tent to have lights on at night but too late now. Lessons learned next time for this time of year…

With both dehumidifiers running and lights on, temps in the tent are reaching 80+ degrees. I have a co2 bag also in the tent. RH is around 48-50% with lights on, down to 45-46% with lights off and temps around 72.

With only one running and lights on, I’m around a max of 76 degrees with an RH around 55%, but with lights out RH creeps up to 58-60%.

So I’ve been running 2 at night and 1 durng the day. But leaving town for 3 days and have to choose to run 1 or 2 of the big dehumidifiers while I’m away. I guess it boils down to which option presents the lesser risk of problems . Hot and dry invites mites, moisture off course presents potential mold and mildew problems. Opinions??

Why too late? Keep off and re-set on cycle hours.
Win some lose some, as I don’t know how this will affect, but plants will do better in cooler cycle of day. My tent can only run some light from 11PM-11AM and full lighting only 2-8AM in this heat. Better to cool off than fry off

Temps up to 85 for a few days won’t do any harm and ideal RH is 45-50% the 60% high you have will be ok as well :love_you_gesture:

Chemicals can be applied to remedy this, i am sure.

3 days hardly is time enough for pests to invade due to Rh. I would go with both dehumidifiers for the duration of your time away. In flower, generally, less is more regarding humidity.

I don’t have a dehumidifier, and my humidity gets over 70 sometimes with lights out. I keep plenty of air circulating, and I haven’t had any issues. In fact I’m harvesting this one today.

There is but on my first try doing the treatment it caused bud rot…. I prefer prevention.

So keep them off 24 hours? Then reset? I am a new grower (2nd crop) and didn’t know the impact of a change like that during flowering… they are happy coming into week 7… lost my first crop at this point so I’m nervous about big changes

By using a co2 bag you can get away with higher temps I believe.

Beautiful! That definitely makes me feel better. Thanks!

Circulating or exhausting?

I do both in my tent. Have two inline fans i mounted and cinched in the side holes.

Lower fan is intake sucking air in and disturbing the humid lower air and upper fan I use as exhaust (heat rises)

Ive been considering getting a clip fan or two for inside the tent, but I’ve been a lazy panda for quite awhile lol

Tower oscilating or AC-I Oscilating fans recommended.
INSIDE tent air circulation necessary to lower leaf temp and RH, faster.

I would recommend Intake at bottom and exhaust on top (verticle, better than horizontal with bend to verticle).

It does circulate the air inside already. The CFM of those fans still makes em seay around.

Its humid as hell and hot in NY right now, and temt is running around 78 degrees and 43ish rH

Both. I have a clip on fan, and an exhaust fan.

Yes Sir you are correct :100:. They crave higher temps with co2 being released

Had to turn lights to 50% from 7AM until 10AM (lights off).
Cant turn on before 11PM.
Next year a room AC for garage may be the support or just quit and move outdoors for months 6-9 (save money and clean grow spaces).
Good growing to you. I am a former Louisiana resident and often burnt the grow.
Cooler but still hot, PNW residing.

Yeah, we’ve had 90+ degree weather for past few weeks on and off.

Outdoor humidity is consistently hitting 95%+ in the evening hours.

I’m still running my lights 7am-pm indoors. I run my AC in the house at least (only have a window unit in another room, but my house isnt huge and single floor no basement)

I run my dehumidifer in my grow room at night though and auto set it to keep it 60 or less, so the air circulation in the tent with the fans still keeps ot low enough.

I dont want no mold. I lost a whole harvest once lol

Sorry yea, I have an additional inline fan exhausting air.

Thanks everyone. I’m going to add one more fan, turn on both dehumidifiers and hope for the best. :crossed_fingers:
