Temperature and humidity

I’ve been here a lot lately…this is what’s happening. I cant seem to keep temp and hum even. My temp is eith 85 with 31 hum or when i woke up this morning hum was still 30 but temp was 60. I live in florida the air in on and hum is always high outside. So i dt understand what im doing wrong. I had a little humidifer but i ordered a bigger one for moisture. Idk how to get heat up and keep it level. I find getting them out of this stage is the hardest for me

Do you have a ventilation system? Fans blowing fresh air in and an exhaust system near the top of the temp to carry the hot air near the top of the tent out?

Welcome to the community ! If possible fill out support ticket, you will get better feedback. Are you pulling fresh air From your air-conditioned house? Are you running your lights of the night off during daylight? As mentioned exhaust system ?

Some setups require you condition the room and not the tent. Also tuning of fans and other environmental equipment can help a lot.

Obviously if you run an exhaust fan the temp and RH will likely change. Tailor that to your needs.

For example: I am growing in a 2 X 4 X 5 tent in my garage in Socal. I’m having to bump temps and reduce RH so run a small 4" inline on a timer, and a dehumidifier in the grow space comes on for 30 minutes with 1 hour off. This causes temp and RH to fluctuate, but tuned up it fluctuates around my ideal environment. So the plant is happy.

I’ve chatted with you before last summer. Yes i have exhaust fan filtering as much heat outside. I have a 3x3x6 tent in a 10x10 room with ceiling fan on. I have a small humidifer hooked up and after adjusting controller on fan temp is 75 but i still only have 31% humidity. Im waiting for bigger one in mail. I was thing of a swamp cooler for humidity but im hoping that the one im waiting for is big enough. Im using a led light 3000w according to box. During the day if i open tent for fresh air i def dont have any humidity. I changed tents since last we talked

  • Humidity; Day, Night 31% ill know in a cpl of days if gauge works
  • Ventilation system; Yes, No, Size exhaust. Working on going in. I open vents in tent but then it bring humidity down to 20.
  • AC, Humidifier, De-humidifier, 3x3x6 tent is in a 10x10 room ceiling fan on. Exhaust going outside. Waiting on new humidifier. Im waiting on the cash to get another inline fan. The exhaust fan is on a speed controller that helps me reg temp. But no humidity. I have no idea what to do. Ive tried wet towels i have a personal humidifier

I am in Wisconsin and during the winter months the humidity I very low. I vent my tent exhaust back into enclosed room. A very low tech aide to increase RH in the tent, I simply but a 1 gallon pail filled with water and a kitchen towel that is suspended to act like a wick in front of the tent intake. Your not going to raise the RH 20 points but it helps. Now I am on the opposite side of the ledger. I’m a couple weeks from harvest and tent temp is 75-77 and RH is 62. I fired up the dehumidifier and turned the room’s exhaust fan on. RH 50.

Not having high humidity is not that important, in my experience living in the desert. I’m never over 30 RH, my plants grow just fine. Seedlings to harvest, all at under 30 RH, never a problem. I don’t use domes or mist either seedlings or clones and they manage to live just fine. It’s all in mastering the techniques to make your plants thrive in your environment.

It’s probably that your air conditioner has a dehumidifier in it, which is needed to deal with Florida’s humidity. So whenever your AC is on (or all the time on some models), it’s sucking the humidity out of the air. It’s something I’ve fought with forever here in Texas. My RH is 27-30 RH with 2 humidifiers running full blast in the room that houses the tents, it would be 15 RH without them. Add to that all the exhaust venting to outside to cool my tents - losing humidity almost as fast as I can generate it. I don’t care anymore as it doesn’t seem to matter as I can still grow nice healthy plants regardless of the low humidity.

My hands would be dried and bloody at those levels.

Your temp swings are more concerning, 60-85, why so cold? Nothing a small heater can’t fix.

What temp is good? I read but more i read more confused i become. When i slow the exhaust speed i can get temp up to 75-80. But when i get up in morning its temp dropped prob bc its cold in house. Am i better off closing air cond vent and try to deal w the heat? Idk. I had a awesome grow last year. I have trouble getting plants out of pop up to seedling stage.

Dropping down to 60 every night/morning is going to cause some slowness and issues with sprouts, must be with lights off? I’d run the lights all the time or at least schedule it to be on for the coldest times. Below 60 is too cold. When I’m sprouting seeds, I run the light 24/0 to keep temps up and stable (75-78).

Im terrible at this in the beginning. I raised light some…ok ill keep lights on all the time and they are autos so from what ive read it doesnt need a light schedule til later. So ur kind saying what others say that temp is more important than humidity?? It gets cooler at night cause not as hot at night as during the day. I have all this free time bc were in lock down. Do u think i can save them? My humidity dont get over 32

Do i put humidifier in tent or in the room tents in

You can do either, I just put them in the room because I don’t like to take up the space in the tent. Yes, temps are more important than humidity.

This is what I was going to suggest.

Im guessing i should have put seedlings in solo cups…i have room inside tent. They just don’t seem to b growing. Idk maybe im expecting to much to quick. My temp was getting low again last night so at night as soon as i see temp start to drop im gonna turn on heater in room. Light doesn’t seem to b enough
