Temp and dehumidifiers

We are on our first grow and using a 1.2 x 1.2 x 2m (H) tent. We are trying to organise equipment to get through our upcoming summer which will be very hot and very humid. Where we live the temp is generally around 38+ degrees Celsius and the humidity in the high 90% range. We are currently looking at something that does both heat control and dehumidifying in the one unit. I guess the question is should we be getting a unit like that or should we be getting a separate AC and dehumidifier? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don’t know of a all in one unit but they may exist…I have a separate window AC and roll-around dehumidifier…one thing for sure is a good dehumidifier is going to put out heat so be prepared for that …

I have a Midea portable AC. It heats, cools and dehumidifies. I also have hot & humid weather, when I run the AC I also have to run a 50pt dehumidifier. Lights and plants put out a lot of heat and humidity so I need to run both at the same time. Both have been running 24/7 since May. It is one ugly electric bill.

Like @beardless said there isnt really much out there to do that but most higher end portable ac units will have a heating, cooling, and dehumidification mode. When i tried my dehumidification mode on my whitner 12k btu portable unit it didnt cool my tent off enough or really work well as a dehumidifier. I run a auto drain dehumidifier and ac at the same time. As mentioned above yeah the power bill is pricey like average $350 a month here lately

Have to agree with @beardless! I’m currently running a window AC unit that is a 3_1 (cools, dehumidifiers, and fan) Even with the AC I had to get a dehumidifier and run them both 24/7. Both were very good purchases to keep temp. & Rh in check.

Lmao I guess you would have to be from down here to understand how good they really are to eat I eat the little front legs like chicken wings on the grill however you want but mainly the pure white meat of the tail it’s awesome

I have a 1 ton mini split unit that cools and has a dehumidifier setting.
It cost more than a portable. The thing about portables is they exhaust out a window so they basically cool the air and then suck it out the window. There are a few more expensive units that have two hoses and don’t pull the room air out but at this point you might a well buy the mini split.

A mini was my preference but my install skills did not match with up.

Back in the day a few local pubs featured turtle soup. I must admit it was pretty tasty.

Finding an installer is never easy. I have been fixing things since I was a kid. Installing the mini split was pretty easy but I had to buy a vacuum pump to purge the copper lines.
I would think you could find an installer to do it for 200 dollars. They really are easy. As long as you have an electric source. Mine is 120v but they come 220v as well.
