This is my first grow using solely roots. My Og Kush is about 3-4 weeks before harvest and I also got a bubble gum that is Probly 4-6 weeks before harvest.
One of my three that will get the Roots Organic is an OG Kush. The other two are Maui Wowie and Super Purple Haze.
Im also using mammoth P and this grow with the OG seems to be larger colas and the trichomes are really packing in. Not sure if itās the mammoth P or the roots line.
I would wait til next grow to start the organic nutes, myself, just because youāre adding organics into a medium where youāve been using salty nutes. Plus, organics take longer to become available to your plant, so you might experience deficiencies during a critical part of your plantsā lives.
If you do switch, flush that Fox Farms stuff out, add lotsa microbes, then feed with the Roots.
I was planning on doing something like what you suggest, @blackthumbbetty, but after a couple of conversations with the Aurora folks, they convinced me to just go with a knife edge change over. I am assuming that they know how their product works and they are (or should be) motivated for their product to perform as designed.
I will report what happens, good or bad.
As a safety net, I am only switching over on half of my grow.
Iām with Betty. Iām a skeptic, and Iād like to hear from someone who has switched mid-grow like that and hear their results. I just feel like the manufacturer has a biased input on the matter, and would like you to start using it asap so youāll be buying it again sooner. I know youāll dial it in and maximize it, either way.
I have to go with the thought of these plants do not like abrupt or excessive changes. Really is a bad time to have an issue like that! I have also been known to say, AWWW F it!
I was, and still am, hesitant to make the sudden switch, but I figure that the worst that will happen is that I will wreck three plants and learn a lot in the process.
@blackthumbbetty @Holmes
If it does not cause them to herm, maybe I can even learn to fix them.
Just a brief update:
Switched over on MW-2, OGK-2 and PH-2 four days ago and have been closely monitoring for deficiencies compared to the three that continue to receive FF Trio.
Even though it is early, no problems so far. I thought I was seeing the leaves on the Roots Organic plants getting a little bit pale a couple of days ago, I suspect that I was seeing things. LOL
Lol iām glad you were just seeing thingsš
That happensā¦ā¦.wait for itā¦ā¦.when you smoke de good chit MON!
Exactly! Should not inspect plants after copping a buzzzzzzz. Makes us miss the important chit and see chit that aint there.
But my plants are so much prettier when I am buzzingā¦except when I screw them up. LOL
It has been 7 days since switching to Roots Organic from FF Trio. The plants that have been switched look identical to the plants on FF Trio in the same room. All of these plants are in FFOF with added perlite and worm castings.
So far no issues with the knife edge change over. This does surprise me a little bit as the Roots Organic dry products take about a week to become available to the plants after application.
You aināt got nothing but time there āretireeā! I suspect you may not see an abrupt change because your plants are so happy with everything else! LOL!
I suspect that I am more of a slacker and goof off.
My new project is to design, build and learn to fly an FPV racing quadcopter. Too much time on my hands, I guess. No plans to actually race, just fly around and goof off.
When I checked them this morning and took photos, they were in there giggling and playing grab-ass.
Just remember when those babies break down you donāt pull over and fix it, well I guess you pull over in a manner of speaking LOL. I was in the Marine Corps at an MACS unit, so aircraft have always been fascinating for me. Matter of fact a CH-53 just flew over about tree top high, My 90lb German Shepard did not like it, he thinks he rules the world I guess. He does rule his little part of it, but I let him know at a young age I am Alpha.
These are just little drones with a camera and you wear a headset and fly it like you are in the cockpit, except it is only about 12" - 14" across with four 5" propellers. I started watching drone racing on TV and got a wild hair up my butt. LOL Had to give it a try.
I flew fixed wing a number of years ago but have not been in a plane for over 20 years.
I just ordered all of my drone parts today, they will be arriving over the next month.
I even have FPV (First Person View) goggles coming.
It will be a lot like pod racing in the Star Wars movie, except no risk of injury, death and destruction.
Been practicing using DRL Simulator.
