Stunted seedling 2 parts question

I think my seedlings have been stunted by overwatering. They are 2 weeks old and haven’t seen much growth over the last couple of days. Ive been lightly watering around and putting a plastic dome over to keep the RH up. Is there anything else I could do? Can they bounce back or am I doomed to fail?

2nd Part: If I started over is there enough time to be drying/currring by mid March? I have some seeds that say 65-70 from sprout to harvest which works great but I’m not sure how accurate the timeframe is.

Your plant is putting down roots. She’ll be fine…

I’m gonna have to disagree with oldmarine. These plants are 7 days old. Putting the dome over it blocks the light and that’s what it needs as soon as the tail is 1/4 long or so. I planted mine in Miracle Grow seedling starter and soak the medium with Clone X a couple days after they pop up. I’ll transplant them to Fox Farm Ocean Forest in a few days in some 3 gallon fabric pots.

They do look overwatered but you gotta think the plant needs to breathe also. Putting that dome over it is suffocating them. I have my tent door open in the morning and night to make sure it gets a good air swap and it helps the plant build strong stems and roots.

I stunted that plant in the pic by letting it sit in the solo cup too long bc I didn’t have pots yet so I’ve learned the hard way too.

About what? It’s not putting down roots? It won’t be okay?

Sorry @Richdawg85.

It might be okay but you might as well start over. She is in terrible condition for 2 weeks.

Yeah the root part. It’s probably not putting down much roots at all. Mine grew more than that off of a 40 dollar light at lowes. They’re sick af and they MIGHT be okay. Personally, I would toss them and call it a learn experience. I don’t even use a dome over my plants.

1.Soak it in water until you see seed is cracked
2. Place seedlings on a plate with moist paper towel and cover with another plate allowing a little air flow.
3. Place plates under light ( but still covered with a plate ) where they will get some warmth or on a seedling mat.
4. When tails are 1/4 long place in seedling mix tail down and lightly cover top of seed with soil.
5. At day 2 or 3 after seedlings have popped up soak your seedling mix or potting soil with Clone X seedling solution and wait until it is dry and do it again. By the time it is dry again they will be ready for nutes or a soil like Fox Farm that doesn’t need much nute.

even the cheap Amazon seedling starters have air vents at the top so make sure you’re getting air. I can almost bet that’s what is compounding your overwatering issue bc I’ve overwatered a lot and mine grew.

The dome I use is clear and has holes. I didn’t use one until recently but I was overwatering for sure. I’m still learning and will take what I’ve learned for my next grow. Thanks

Oh I feel you. There is so much to learn. Like I said my first plant got stunted but I have used some 1 pt. Painting pales instead of solo cups and ordered some 3 gallon fabric pots from AC Infinity.

I don’t think ur seedling is stunted i think its putting down a root system they stall when putting down a root system

That much though ? I don’t understand why it would stall and still be that small.

What size pot did you start them in? it is best to start them in a small container till they get a good root system going. in a larger pot it will take them longer to get a good root system going. don’t give up just yet!

It will be focusing its energy on the root system for the time been just be patient she will get up and grow u can give her 1.5 mls of seasol seaweed liquid in ur water when watering this will help with root growth and it may kick her into gear to grow up

I start my seedlings in solo cups then i wait until the leaves are hanging over the edge of the solo
Cup cause it has a great root system by then

Nothing wrong with that seedling. Mine very often have a slow start like that especially if temps are a little low.

it’s not. From same seed stock I have had some finish in 10 weeks and some take 14+ weeks, grown side by side. They “said” 10 weeks.
Hell, this one is 8 weeks. LOL

Holy smokes. This is mine at 8 weeks

I’m using 3gal fabric pots with FFoF and perlite

Yeah like the others said I’d start in solo cups or some small container. I often for painters pales so I can see the roots a little but you can use clear solo cups inside colored ones to make it easy to view.

Looks like solo cups are the way to go!!!
