I appreciate the interest and discussion. My input: a) I see no evidence of insect invasion; this is one of several plants in a group; none of the others have been affected. b) This plant has never been tied; I did trim away some of the affected area to get a better look and to just get rid of it. c) I will not use paint of any kind on this or any plant.
kaptain 3d - what does “monstercropped clone” mean? And tell me about applying some “aloes.”
Caligurl - h202? you mean water?
Field of Dreams - I told you she was a freak.
So I am pretty much where I started. Looking for a solution.
When you take a clone from a flowering “mother”, it’s called a monstercrop. It takes a while for the clone to reveg, but once it does you get crazy branching and weird leaves (at first).
And for the aloes, I just take a piece of an aloes plant and rub the sap on any wound on my plants… that sterilize the wound and helps it heal…
Like Kap said kinda looks like bud rot. Personally, I would remove all affected areas, including any affected branches. Looks like dead leaves have been left, these can also be the cause of the problem, as they begin to rot. Especially, if there are more than a few. Just my humble opinion
